Homeland on Showtime

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Clip here.

Looks good, has a 24 feel - the writer is from that show, so no big surprise there. Great cast - Claire Danes, Damien Lewis, and Mandy Patinkin (although I'm certain that's actually Stephen Spielberg :rommie:). This one is going to be twisty fun! Probably will air next spring at the earliest.

It tells the story of Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis), a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al-Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin plays Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.

The acting and dialogue look great, and I've always loved Claire Danes, but I doubt I will watch the show. It's just too...political for me. I'm kind of sick of Middle Eastern terror plots on tv and I doubt I could stomach an entire series based on that premise.

Could be cool. I like the cast. If it doesn't turn into an idiotic cartoon like "24," I'd be pretty happy to check it out.

I love Mandy, but, even he will admit he's nuttier than a fruitcake. If he sticks around for more than a few episodes, I might check it out.

On 24, we were always assured that Jack Was Right. On this show, the whole dramatic tension stems from the question whether Claire Danes' character is right. She could be a terrible person, paranoically persecuting an innocent man. So that rules out the cartoon approach.

I expect this to be the premium-cable version of 24, the kind of show that would never survive on network TV.

Just bringing this back from the dead to post this link, which will allow you to legally watch the first episode a little early. It's getting pretty good reviews, so I think I'll check it out.

I don't get the Steven Spielberg joke?

Some people think, SS and MP look similar somehow.

Anyway, just watched the pilot, not on the website linked to though, and it hasn't been edited in any way (nudity and profanities were still in there).

I liked it very much, but with CD, DL and MP, it is hardly unlikeable for my taste. And I was surprised about Morena, I just recognised her by her voice, but it is good to see her in a more demanding role than that "V" series, which somehow sucked, even with JG and EM in it.

A very, very good first episode. I just hope they can keep the suspense over the season without it getting boring.

I just saw a billboard for this. A great cast, but I have to wonder how this premise has more than 12 episodes of life in it?

Yeah, that can be a problem. But maybe each season (if it gets renewed) will deal with a different threat.

Homeland delivered an 8 year season premiere high for Showtime, and rightfully so. Excellent cast and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat... and hardly anything has happened so far. This could easily be the best new show of the year if they can keep it up.

10:00 p.m. 1.08 million viewers
12:00 a.m. 243,000 viewers
2:00 a.m. 56,000 viewers
Online/On Demand Sampling 1.4 million viewers

I'll just wait for good ole Netflix, thanks. Since the premiere sounds like it was good, I'll want to see the next eps immediately but Showtime is still not in the budgetary realm. ;)

I really did'nt like it. I don't think it'll get a second season.

Reviews were excellent from critics and generally users (myself included) + the ratings and a big lead in with Dexter's 2.2 million audience I would say this show is looking good for season 2.

Plus it also has Morena Baccarin from Firefly, too:bolian:
It does seem interesting and exiting show, something to look forward to on DVD certainly:cool:
