I love Doctor Who fandom. DWM's Gary Gillatt weighed in: "Horrific idea!"

Seriously, when did Whodom stop having fun?

That kind of puzzled me a bit. After all, it's one of the main reasons I became a Whovian in the first place - it has serious amounts of fun, much more so than Trek ever did.

I am excited about this as mentioned in the thread in Trek Lit. Depending on who the creative team is, this could blow away the Star Trek/Legion crossover which has been supremely good so far. The possibilities on how extraordinary fun this could be are endless.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I would LOVE to see Guinan having a chat with the Doctor. Even a single panel of the two of them sitting together in Ten-Forward.

I love this idea, and why not? It's all in fun.

Pretty sure Tony Lee is writing it.

Matthew Dow Smith is my favourite of IDW's DW artists but he probably wouldn't be best suited for the Trek side of the equation.

Going from his reviews in DWM - I would say it's not so much Whodom as him who is no fun.

Is anyone really surprised by this? Remember this is the same company that gave us the GI Joe/Trek/TMNT crossover called Infestation. That is currently pairing Spock and Brainiac 5. If anything I was expecting this to happen 2 years ago.

I think it will be fun. And no sillier than the talking dinosaur the IDW series had a companion for a few months ...

I just hope the artist they use for this is the one who drew that picture on the Bleeding Cool website. I'm seriously hating the artwork in the current As Time Goes By arc.

I'm a little surprised that it's not JJ-Trek in the crossover, which is what I would have done. However, that would have added another level of complexity to the approvals (since that would have dealt Bad Robot into the mix).

It won't be. That looks like a Joe Corroney cover to me, and I can't think of any Joe Corroney interiors in the past few years.

But it's Matthew Dow Smith! He's my favorite IDW Doctor Who artist! :)

I'm not surprised about the crossover, given how well received Star Trek/Legion has been so far. It also seems logical to me at least that they would choose the TNG crew since they used the TOS crew for the Legion crossover.

I would have loved a TOS crossover but TNG is great too. Hey it's Trek and Who. No complaints.

Weird. I just clicked it and got through.

It's a link to a post on IDW's Tumblr. They have the Corroney cover image up, and there's an animated GIF of kids having a prty.

shame Bleeding Cool can't spell Geordi and Troi though.

GEEK FAIL.
At work we think that Rich Johnston does most of his work on a tablet (like an iPad), writing it quickly, using predictive text, and then not proofing it. It's the easiest explanation for the myriad typos in his work.
