Holy crap, the TOS communicators were pencil cases.

I remember when most kids in school used to have those.

Just about the right time, too.

And to think, I just used to open up my wallet and say "Beam me up," into that!

Fascinating! I wonder if there are any other hidden secrets behind Chang's phaser and tricorder designs.

I never had a pencil box like that, but I once had a pencil sharpener with a similar kind of sliding door over its shavings reservoir. I liked to pretend it was a spaceship with a big rolltop cargo hold. The pencil hole was its docking port, naturally.

I remember having pencil cases like that in elementary school back in the 60's. Man, I tried making communicators from different boxes but never thought of using that. Pretty swell.

OMG!!! I had one of those, and I used to pretend it was a communicator!!!

Wow, so I wasn't just imagining a similarity! That's awesome, I wish I could tell that to a 6 year-old me, he'd be amazed!!!

Be really funny if an Andorian ambassador spoke, and from the UT came the (Robert Ludlum voice-over) "And it worrrrrrks!" catch-phrase from the old Ty-D-Bowl commercials.

The catch phase here, for Harpic Flushmatic, was "It's blue!"

Hence, when I was making fanfilms in the 80s and 90s, we were called Harpic Productions.
