Holograms for combat?

Holograms for combat? I'm not going to bring in the Voyager books because of spoilers but from what we have seen actually on the show brings real merit to the idea for combat holograms
If you saw Renaissance man or Flesh and Blood you can get a real idea of what they could do.
How I would do it is not to make them as sophisticated as the doctor. Not to be left on all the time and not to learn how to sing;) Just on for Emergencies and 2 subroutiens. Attack and Defend.
Imagine a ship that had holographic generators on each deck. Have these Holograms programmed in advanced tactics. They would have super human strength and speed.
Kinda makes boarding and taking over a ship harder.
Have a separate power source to power the generators incase of power failure and also have the emitters protected by small shield.

Thats just a defense idea! What about offence. Beaming a generator over to a Borg cube with its own scattering field and shield. All the sudden you could have 1000 holograms battling the Borg.
Not to mention a ground outpost defence against JemHdar invasion.

^ The Voyager crew tried using holographic fake ships in a battle with the Kazon during Basics Part 1. Things didn't turn out too well though - particularly for the doctor. :D

They were just diversionary tactics. I read a book where Kirk was testing inflatable starships which register as real starships on long range scans... but basically balloons, diversionary balloons.

You can't program these hollosoldiers to be retarded but be capable of advanced tactics. Balancing the smart against the craven is difficult.

One might suggest that it's not humane to leave modern day soldier with their higher brain functions considering what they have to go through and considering they might think they have limited obligations to their arm of the service that they're not going to hold the line till they die of old age in no matter what what futile immoral conflict that... I saw Universal Soldier the other day and Clone Wars the day after that.

Emerging sentience is always going to be a potential problem no matter how thick you make them, and the thicker you make them the worse they are at their job, when it must seem that they're more trouble than they're worth.

One of them moving at super speed however wouldn't be in any danger at all, and Janeway could reassign Security to other stations lacking in man power, if they're not already doubling up on duties.

I disagree you can program them for just one thing. Not making them thick in the head but have them do one thing and that is attack and defend. Make them advanced attack dogs. Why do Holograms need to know more than what they are programmed to know. This also relates to our time. I am 31 and I know in my lifetime there is going to be "real" AI. I hope when it happens it does not become like one of those bad horror sci-fi movies.

We could program the Holograms to sing "Jolly Sailor Man" Imagine thousands on them on a Borg ship fighting the borg while singing in unison;)

A solider has to be able to do thousands and thousands of things to be of any use.

Okay here's the real rub.

You can hack a hologram and make it switch loyalties with a flick of a switch just like Ransom did the doctor, or just mess with it's functions like Starling and that Doctor from Critical Care. If the hologram is not adaptive, then it's meat for the enemy's counter measures.

So what if the Borg can do that with biology already and Kathy's workforce can flipflop if the Borg get a Lucky strike, The Hirogen Holograms were tricked into Fighting the Hirogen when Kim skewed the rules of the Killing Game. No one can be trusted to... have you ever played Othello (they also call the game "Go")? In reverse however Holograms can "possess" Borg and drive their drone meat around like it was there own.
