hold it...down!!!

Is it me? Am I just getting old? But are the movie-theatres blaring their soundtracks ever and ever louder? We went to see a movie this weekend, and I couldn't help but notice how damn LOUD it was, and then I remember thinking the same thing when I saw TREK XI and TRANSFORMERS 2 over the summer...

^This is something that comes up from time to time. I remember there was an article about the time Lethal Weapon 4 came out going on about how some scenes in it were 120dB, and one about Die Hard 4 saying something similar.

I'm 35 and I actually like it loud.

Nothing is more annoying to me than paying $10 bucks for a movie (especially a big summer action movie), and then having the sound be too low. For some reason it's harder to immerse myself into the story, and not nearly as fun or exciting to watch.

I noticed this for the first time ten years ago when my best friend and I went to see The Phantom Menace. We're the same age (At the time we were both 29), and while I thought the movie was too loud (I could swear I heard interference in my right ear.), he thought it needed to be louder. Nowdays he says the same thing.

I don't think it's necessarily and age thing. This friend's dad is in his 60's and needs a hearing aid, and my friend is starting to need everybody to repeat things to him. I think he's just simply going deaf.

Yeah, Rob, you're old. So am I. That having been said-I've found different movie houses use different volumes. Regal is notoriously loud.
