Ah, the advantage of being a depressed loner. No peers; no peer pressure. No cliques to worry about. I did try to fit in, by being on the drill team and later tall flag squad, and yearbook. Yet I managed to stay be myself a lot.
I didn’t notice a huge amount of cliques--people stuck with groups, but it was fairly flexible and no violence from that. Any problems were more one-on-one personal things. I believe things have changed since the late 1970s.
