Hi! I'm Chris Myers. I played Gamble in Season 3. AMA!

If I may drift slightly, Chris, can you discuss your TV role in SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT? (Don't we all.)(:

Oh boy! It was wild. The audition was for Spike himself (kind of odd considering it was a small role) and just was like, improvising hyping up a crowd in patois. Wild. Then once I got cast they were like, great, dance rehearsals will begin. And here's a full song in patois we want you to learn. I was like WHAT. lol. But I always kind of like difficult lifts because it brings out all my focus and ability. So in the end it was this weird, wild, short experience that I'm almost certainly never going to have again.

Haha, I had to google this but I laughed.

Welcome to the boards. Great job playing Gamble and then Vazda Gamble. The Costuming in the temple actually reminded me a little bit of the masks from the TNG episode Masks. Was that an inspiration?

Have you ever been confused with the other Chris Myers in Hollywood?

I checked, and apparently there are lots of Actors / Non-Acting related People in Hollywood called Chris Myers.

@uwschris, what can we do to get you to convince Melanie, Ethan, Babs or any of the others to follow your example and come here to answer our questions? ;) :D

Hi everyone! I did one of these on Reddit and one of the users said I should come over here to say hi, too! Promised I would after 310 aired. Thank you all for watching! I admit I combed through the 305 ep thread and was so cool seeing all the fan theories, some of which got quite close to nailing it!

But anyway, feel free to ask me any questions! I'll also say you can follow me on Instagram where I occasionally post SNW stuff and more from my general acting career --> @chrismyersinc
Hey thanks for visiting!

Honestly not that heavy! Lots of foam-y parts that were painted to look heavier. But I remember the dimensions being wide. And the staff was actually really heavy. So all together, with the obstructed vision, the most difficult part was walking down the stairs out of the portal (before I make everyone stab their eyes out).

Actually no! In fact, when I left for episode 5 I didn't even have the contract to come back for 310. Even though folks were hinting at it on set. But if I recall, there's actually a rule that prevents them from shooting in such a way that mixes episode content because it would be a great way for them to essentially reduce rates for laborers (like actors) who are paid by episode.

Ya know, Event Horizon comes up a lot in online discussions and it was def a reference for the writers, so I gave it a rewatch. But actually, a lot of what I did drew upon my theater training background, specifically the extensive voice and physical training we did at Juilliard. Normally, you don't actually need to use that stuff as much for TV, but creating this wide arc and transformation, plus the genre of it all, made it feel necessary to activate acting technique, instead just like "in the moment" realness.
Thank you, Chris!

Greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. (And everyone else's here.)

Can't say I heard anything about that but you never know!

Haha yes, I've long since glared at White Chris Myers, but he's old and does football stuff so little confusion. It's the more recent rival on the scene, Black Christopher Myers I gotta watch out for.

Everyone has their own vibe with this stuff! They're also a lot more busy than I am tbh :)

It'll be hilarious when you're both cast in the same show.

You'll get to do the IRL Spiderman pointing at each other meme.

Peyton List had the same issue with the other Peyton List in one of the shows where they were both in it.

Hate it when they make the same List.
It's very immersive, which beats the old school green screen. But if that were all we used, it would probably be a bit of bummer. For one, the few practical set pieces you get tend to be sparse (it's only fleshed out for viewer). It's best we do a mix of AR Wall, built sets, and on-location. For us, and for the viewer!
Sounds pretty cool. Would they adjust things on the fly?

And, did you keep any parts of props or costume?

Nice one :)

To your first question. So from what I understand, everything has to be built (in like, Unreal engine or whatever they use) far in advance of shooting. Which I don't think has a lot of wiggle room on the day. Whereas green-screen can be done in post. Both have benefits and weaknesses as far as workflow, as you can imagine.

Someone was kind enough to gift me my starfleet delta, which is definitely one of my most prized possessions.

Since things are slowing down I'm going to tap out of this thread for now but I'll check back on you guys down the line! Thanks so much for watching this season and kicking it in this thread. If you have any other questions feel free to comment or DM me on Instagram (below). Until then, LLAP!

Hi, Welcome, hope you check back Occasionally, thanks for doing this.. ( don't have an Insta)

For your character, he was just so full of joy and wonder, I'd say the quintsental poster boy Starfleet officer. Just lighted up the room when you in there.
When you were assigned the landing party was like cool.. then you picked up the orb.. thought.. oh.. Then when they said you had no life signs.. went.. NOOO!

Honestly, like Heimer in S1, just sad they offed a great character that I wished stuck around, you were a joy to watch, and were the highlight of the season.
