Hey, I never noticed that before....

^ Yes, like Crewman Commander posted…the bird creature from The Menagerie was also in the episode.

Thanks to TrekCore for this image!
And apparently an Ewok or a Muppet. ;)

I'm sure others must have noticed this long ago, but yesterday I caught something odd in the teaser for Spectre of the Gun. Before you read my other comments below, turn up your volume and see if you hear what I hear.

Maybe the leather in the captain's chair is just squeaky. Or, maybe even with all that Federation technology, people in the 23rd century still fart. Either way, I don't think I'll be able to resist thinking of this episode as Sphinctre of the Gun.

It can be on Youtube and not in the original episode.

Oh sorry... I should have made it clear that I am the one who made that YT video and it's a direct capture from Paramount+ without modification (other than turning up the volume a bit). Whether the noise in question exists in the original original, I don't know. But it's definitely in the online TOS-R.

I guess this could be a prank added by a bored or disgruntled CBS engineer at some point? Maybe someone with an old VHS copy of SotG can tell us whether it's there too.

Just like these new remastered pick up finer details, the remastered audio is picking up finer audio sounds that were prior, not so easily heard...

;-)

Unsure. I found it a while ago when I was looking for something else.

Just watched "The Conscience of the King" again. It's always been one of my top-five episodes, for many reasons. I believe it's one of the best-directed episodes in all of Star Trek (I'll always be in denial that the same Gerd Oswald also directed "The Alternative Factor").

Didn't really notice until today how exquisite the reaction shots (close-ups of the character who isn't talking) are, in the long scene between Kirk and Karidian/Kodos. There are no less than eleven reaction shots between them in that scene, and that's before Lenore enters the room. These propel what's already a marvelously-written show into the stratosphere.

There's so much to love about this episode. I also think Arnold Moss has one of the most beautiful speaking voices I've ever heard.
