Hey, I never noticed that before....

It's funny that he didn't remember what tunic he was supposed to wear, the actor I mean.

The scenes were probably filmed on different days, or they changed his shirt quickly to give the impression of another crewmember.

I actually knew it could be in the offing as I typed it.

Yes, the are available on ebay--generally repos. Sometimes old vintage original switches come up for bid. Here's a current auction:

The original rocker switches from Spock's Library-Computer console were sold at auction a while back:

"Amok Time"....every time a door opens, whether it's Sickbay or Spock's quarters, the same crewmembers are walking by. In one case, an extra misses the cue and can be seen starting to walk.

I don't watch 'Wolf in the Fold' very often, but I just noticed that in Spock's close-ups in the briefing room, it's easy to see where his Vulcan ears connect to his real ears.

"The Changling".....right before Kirk and Spock rush to the Sickbay, there is a shot of Bill Blackburn climbing up a ladder from a lower deck. He wears the gold/green command tunic. Soon after this Kirk and Spock are coming down a corridor. They pass Eddie Paskey and Bill Blackburn, who is now wearing a blue tunic.

Maybe his shirt was changed to camouflage the fact that it was the same background actor twice. It creates the impression of a larger crew if you aren't watching closely and don't know his face.

You may be right. He walks towards the camera wearing the command tunic. He walks away from the camera with the blue tunic on, but you can still tell that it's Bill Blackburn. Or his twin brother, Sydney.

I always loved that spinning Moire pattern display. I've seen rocker switches similar to these in old electronic gear and really old computer equipment.

Yep. They were always using stock footage of the bridge in which Blackburn from behind was a placeholder for Chekov, or anybody else in the navigator seat. The show was made for a TV audience who would see it on cathode ray tubes, focus on Kirk, and not memorize background actors.

If you weren't supposed to notice the stuntmen's faces during the fistfight in "Space Seed", then I'm pretty sure you weren't supposed to recognize Blackburn playing two background crewmen in different shirts.
