Hey, I never noticed that before....

Speaking of props in the episode "The Galileo Seven", there was that unintentionally funny scene where Spock was pinned down by that large boulder, probably one of those fx foam rocks.

I couldn't help but laugh because it was obvious to me that Spock was holding that boulder in place against his body as he was pretending (acting) to be struggling to get that rock off of him. It was ridiculous that Spock's arm was stretched across the boulder pulling it towards his body, preventing it from rolling away. Totally illogical.

Whenever I see that scene, I yell at the tv screen, "push it Spock, stop pulling".

Watch the opening to "The Changling". After the first bolt hits and the cast is doing their "Sway to the right to simulate the ship being hit..." routine; someone leaned too hard on the Helm/Navigation Control console prop and it starts tipping; and you see Nimoy leap onto the other end to counterbalance and hold it in place.:guffaw:

Court Martial
Jame enters during the opening scene, and before the doors close, there's a picture on the wall you can see of a 1960's NASA rocket launch.

The bartender in the Starbase 11 bar wears the same outfit as the bartender at Station K7.

In front of the bartender, there's a plaque :
M11
STARBASE CLUB

I can't believe I'm still finding things after all these years. Man, the team at Desilu took some serious pride in their work. So many little details they must have realised would never be seen on 60's TV sets. Amazing.

This may have been posted before but I didn't have time to go through the entire thread.

In "By Any Other Name" right before we see Chekov getting turned into a cube, we see him at his usual Navigator's spot...or do we? While he appears to be sitting at the Nav console, check out the background. Instead of the viewscreen we see other bridge stations behind him. It looks like they spun the console around a little.

I noticed this way back in the day and it always struck me as rushed and careless.

Good one. That has bugged me for years. They swung the whole raised platform around to the left, apparently to keep from having to put an image on the main viewing screen. This is a little bit revealing, because it tells us that the bridge's central platform was not affixed to the floor.

TWOK
Chekov asks the fateful question : "Does it have to be completely lifeless?", and Terrell goes over to his station to check it out. The station has a desigation above the instruments :

The Starfleet waiter that walks past Kirk and Morrow has an interesting uniform. Can't recall seeing this rank pin before :

I guess the center part of the bridge can rotate!

Though I never noticed the comm panel before now.

The helm/nav console could be moved to facilitate filming. Eveidently they didn't bother to put it back in place for the shot.

KIRK: Yelling, "Your daddy wasn't a glass maker" is inappropriate, Mr. Sulu.
SULS: But she was right in front of the screen!!!!

The command module is off-center in Spock's Brain, this time pointing to starboard. I wish they'd been more circumspect about getting the set right.

TV shows and movies "cheat" camera angles and set pieces all the time. If repositioning the helm to get the shot is faster and easier than changing the lighting setup, you move the helm. Time is money.

Exactly right. And if you guys ever visit the TOS filming locations, you'll see they found spots where they could drop the equipment, then tilt the camera from that same point in different directions and give the impression that they were in different areas each time.

Watching The Doomsday Machine last night I noticed that when Decker first refers to Star Fleet he pronounces it with the emphasis on the word Fleet which sounded odd. Normally characters say Star Fleet with the emphasis on the word Star.

But, ah, the guy had had a bad day and, as we know, wasn't thinking straight.
