"Hey, I never noticed that before...." (TNG edition)

^Do you mean before Crusher is abducted? She specifically tells them not to beam her up because she's doing precarious work.

If you mean after the abduction, Data says that they cannot locate Crusher. He theorizes that either her communicator is deactivated or she's being held somewhere that is shielded from their scanners.

^ @Neetza512 means beam Crusher and the patients all to sickbay. Too unstable to transport maybe, but, had I been in the writers' room, I might have suggested that Picard didn't have the authority to beam civilians up and maybe also that they were trying to get authority to do so through channels (which didn't get there in time).

Yes I meant beam Crusher and the people injured by the bomb to sickbay before the abduction happens; she didn't want to leave because she was treating them. She would surely be able to do so more effectively in a well-stocked medical facility.

"No permission to take civilians from the surface" is one possible option to resolve the incongruity but most cultures have "implied consent" which means that a person who is hurt is presumed to consent to medical treatment if unable to do so verbally. Granted that doesn't apply to interplanetary diplomacy but Picard isn't exactly known to follow rules to the letter if life is at stake; he's violated the Prime Directive a few times for that reason.

Among the handful of gadgets that Rasmussen steals from the crew, is GEORDI'S VISOR! I'm going to assume he has more than one, but STILL, how the hell did he just walk off with one of those?

Does anyone recognize all these items? I see the VISOR, Worf's d'k tahg (Which would be a pretty stupid invention) a padd, a tricorder, & a couple isolinear chips, but there's 2 angled tools I don't recognize, near the VISOR. Oddly enough, the neural stimulator that Crusher gives him isn't there

I know now that it's an isolinear chip but I did wonder if that 'device' between the tricorder and the padd was a stick of chewing gum...

Isn't the one in the bottom left one of Dr Crusher's medical equipment?

Possibly, but it's not the one pictured in the scene where she gives him the neuro stimulator he asks about. I get the impression that the stimulator was a prop made specifically for that scene (it even gets accompanied by a little light up color magic) whereas, all the stuff on that tray was just whatever they had on hand, kicking around the set that day, & that's the best they could come up with. I mean a Klingon pocket knife? LOL

Seeing Geordi's VISOR there though does make me wondering if we're missing a Scooby Doo moment with Geordi crawling around the floor looking for his VISOR...

Maybe the VISOR is just a spare.
I'm sure it is... & Geordi did upgrade to a different looking model during the show, but I find it peculiar that Rasmussen could be in possession of it, because there's only a few ways that could be, given that it is personal property, & not a communal tool like a tricorder.

The most likely explanation is that he asked Geordi about it, & Geordi let him borrow one to study, which he never gave back. I find that interesting, because Bev, Worf, & Geordi all gave a relative stranger this stuff, when they all suspected him to be pretty shady.

I'd have told him to go suck eggs if he'd asked to study my visor. There's cooperative & then there's just naive. Lol

^ The visor means ending blindness for the wearer, which would be a major money maker. But of course, this fails to address the implants needed to support it. That's probably just as complicated as the visor itself!

I expect that Geordi has had more than one, and perhaps Dr. Crusher had a spare one in sickbay. I do wonder if it is simplistic enough in design that it could be replicated.

He looked like he was having an archeology orgasm from simply touching it and opening it, with a post coital exhale. He certainly didn't need to do that just to be polite, further more Picard has been shown to be a history lover (and I believe it was that very episode where he said he had thought about becoming an archeologist), so it had to mean something to him on some level, certainly enough to transport away with it from the Enterprise D saucer ruins.

In my "head canon" all the other stuff wasn´t actually left there. A specialised salvage team came afterwards, packed everything that wasn´t obviously totally broken or destroyed and sent it to the next starbase for Picard to pick up.

Watched Transfigurations in HD for the first time yesterday, and notice the extent of John Doe's injuries as I never did on DVD. His cheek's totally ripped off and you can see his teeth through the hole in the side of his face. Pretty gross for a prime time TV show.

I was watching Data's Day last night and noticed they had a Bolian Barber that was not Mr. Mott. What is it with Bolians being great barbers. Oh the irony. ;)
Nepotism. Riker calls Mott the best barber in Starfleet. That must have some perks. There's a 3rd Bolian barber in the salon background of The Host too

Note that both these guys predate Mot. They probably just decided on a recurring guy & to give him a name after Ensing Ro. I think Mot was supposed to show up in The Chase as well as his other appearance in Schisms
