This looks like a bit of Firefly stuff in Doctor Who

Looks more south-east Asian than Chinese, particularly Thai. The big one looks like a modified Japanese 'a' hiragana (あ) though.

In an ideal world such a crossover would be awesome.

Yeah, the curly squiggle scripts are more of a S.E. Asian thing. Chinese kanji is more angular, squarish script.

Also it isn't like Firefly was the first sci-fi to incorporate language/characters from the far East
