Samuel has two plans so far. He wants to collect all the super people to presumably augment his own ability.

And the second is when he briefly mentioned that Claire is not the one he is after....indicating his first plan might be a ruse to throw everyone off the real trail which is to get the one person he wants most.....of which we don't know who that is yet.....

What the hell... I'll give both hours an 'above average' just because Hayden Panettiere is getting hotter.

Well, okay, Noah's stuff was pretty good too.

Maybe he's after the woman in the picture. She had better be really special. If he's going through all this trouble, leveling buildings and firing stones into people, just to win back his childhood sweetheart, I'm throwing my hands up in the air in disgust. It'll be worse than the whole hype surrounding Linderman and he ends up dying of unnecessary brain surgery from DL.

Re: Heroes: "Upon This Rock" & "Let It Bleed" 1/4/10 - Grading/Discuss

I am thinking it is Peter and his absorption power. Maybe if Samuel can get an absorption power he can make his "stronger with more people" ability become permanent. So Samuel can be insanely powerful without the need for all the ability people to hang around.

It almost seems that as much as Samuel talks about making his family and keeping everyone safe, that is just a smoke screen, and once he gets what he wants he will destroy the carnival and everyone else around him.

Meh... second hour was a bit better than the first, but overall this was kind of dull. This season has really lacked a sense of urgency, and it's gotten to the point where I don't really care much anymore. But I'll probably stick with it anyway. :p

Oh, and apparently Greg Grunberg thinks that Heroes will be back for a fifth season, but he's mainly basing that on is the fact that this season's finale is a cliffhanger -- sure Greg, no show has ever been cancelled when the story hasn't been resolved. ;) However, he also mentions that the series performs well internationally, and that the DVD sales are fairly solid, so perhaps he has a point there. Eh, we'll see.

Re: Heroes: "Upon This Rock" & "Let It Bleed" 1/4/10 - Grading/Discuss

We will wrap it up properly in the next season and get to 100 episodes,” he maintains. “At least that’s what I would like to see happen. They take so much care in writing the show that I would hope we get the chance to end it right.

Lost announced an end [date] and I think that helped both the people working on the show and the people watching it,”
The difference here is unlike Lost where the writers had plenty of material and everything planned out with a creative vision guiding them in crafting the last stretch of episodes--Heroes has just aimlessly stumbled about with no sense of urgency or compelling mysteries that have developed over several years that has hooked the audience.

What is there to be interested in with Heroes--I've long since lost interest in the characters and the storylines aren't that interesting either. I would like some of the few lingering questions from season one to be answered like how Sylar takes an ability by studying the brain of his victim or what exactly Jessica was but even those have been so muddled I doubt they could provide a satisfying resolution.

I wonder if that new show The Cape is being prepped as a possible replacement? I can picture the suits thinking 2 superhero themed shows is one too many.

You know, Tommy Gun Terminator Multiple Man was acting like an idiot. Clarie didn't try to leave the carnival until you did your creepy stalking thing.

I agree. That was totally out of left field. "Hey, I'll be a creep for no reason at all!"

It's apparently the most pirated show in the world. The list of pirated movies tends to mirror the big box office draws internationally, so even tho there's no list I can find of the best performing shows worldwide, I suppose the piracy rates might indicate Heroes does far better overseas than among all us cruel Americans who have abandoned it in droves. :rommie:

Maybe it's a lot better if you can't understand English?

NBC better not get overconfident. "Drama about a former cop framed for a crime he didn't commit who becomes the cape, a masked hero, to clear his name and reunite with his son." I suppose there's a way to do that premise so it doesn't come off as utterly awful, but it's a lot easier to envision a train wreck.

As long as it looks better than this:

I missed the new episodes on Monday, 01/04, but managed to watch them on NBC.com. I thought they were pretty average, with "Let it Bleed" having a bit more interesting dialogue and more family drama. The whole Milo/Hayden relationship subtext was there. I thought that was funny.

Peter: Strange request ... Um, your boyfriend.
Claire: What?
Peter: Could you ... call him for me?
Claire: Yeah. Why?

The more I watch, the less sense it makes.

I'm sure he actually did it for a reason. The brilliant writers needed him to be creepy, so just like that, it's magic!

After reading NBC's depressing drama announcements, I hope Heroes does get a fifth season. :wtf: Sure, it sucks, and I have absolutely no idea what they'd do with another year, but at least it's something different than NBC's apparent new strategy of cop shows and remakes of cop shows.

Read it and weep/laugh/hurl.

Re: Heroes: "Upon This Rock" & "Let It Bleed" 1/4/10 - Grading/Discuss

I actually thought the first episode, "Upon This Rock" was excellent. Loved the whole Samuel/Emma/Ian story and Knepper really, really brought it here. I could have done without Hiro being made stupid again but enjoyed the pop culture references. Plenty of problems in the second episode but I still enjoyed it, particularly what Samuel did to Sylar at the end. Peter is still epically stupid.

Nice to see they remembered Noah's family, even if they were just background extras. Of course, it makes "Nathan" Sylar look even worse for not acknowledging them in this final moments.
