Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discuss

Re: Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discus

Aw, man-the scene with Sylar snuggling and kissing baby Matt was just HAWT!

*melts*

Re: Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discus

The whole thing was a cop-out and a farce no matter which way you slice it.

They chose the smaller farce (not healing Nathan) over the larger one (reminding us of the healing blood). If it's farcical either way, that's the right choice.

Re: Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discus

They should have at least found a decent way to nullify the healing blood instead of just expecting us to forget about it.

I actually found Hiro and Claire the most interesting storylines, and also the new carnival people are kind of neat.

Matt Parkman is a drag. He's too serious. So is Mohinder. That guy never cracks a smile or brings a little levity to a scene.

Heroes is best when the characters aren't being so serious.

Matt Parkman is a player in the movie BASketball with Trey Parker and Matt Stone. He is on one of the other teams. You might get a laugh out of seeing him in it for a few seconds. I don't mean you'll laugh for a few seconds. That is his entire part.

Without the nullification being a contrivance? Maybe they can have another eclipse, but this one will magically wipe out all the magic blood.

There's a challenge: think of a non-contrived way to nullify the magic blood.

The immune system of the immortal/healing person is so strong that it attacks the receiver of the new blood. It sort of breaks their body down. We can see someone get dissolved all gooey like too. Hopefully someone like Mohindar or icewoman.

Then why didn't Noah melt?

And speaking of poor awol Mo, how about if he comes up with a therapy to suppress powers which Claire takes in an effort to finally become just a normal girl, and Mo gives to Sylar unwillingly so that he will stop being a psycho. He doesn't realize that this therapy will zap the healing blood. Of course Claire and Sylar both go off the wagon and stop taking the therapy but for technobabble reasons, the healing blood is permanently gone.

This is why we need a scientist character on the show, so he can neat up the writers' mistakes.

Re: Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discus

How bout this: you need TWO sets of healing blood from TWO people for resurrection. So Bennet got Claire's AND Adam's blood. The Company had Adam's blood in stock from his imprisonment. So when Adam was killed by Arthur, there goes resurrection. The Company is out of his blood.

Re: Heroes: "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall" 9/21 - Grade & Discus

Comic book characters have power inflation all the time. The immune increase can be just a side effect. Maybe their own immune system can start to devour their own body. Then the scientist guy tinkers with them and bye-bye magic blood. Mohindar gets dissolved first though and somehow during the same season Peter stops being a dumbass all the time.

The first shot of blood works fine, but like an immunization the body creates antibodies after the fact that would constantly attack the new blood if it were reintroduced to the body.

Maybe since Nathan's ability was artificial, a side effect of the formula also made him immune to the effects of Claire's (or Adam's, or any other healer's) blood.

One of the many problems with Nathan's death is the show forgot its deus ex machine...Claire's blood could have healed him.

That was the saving grace - hopefully the writers have now realized what a bs cheap out that is, and will forget they ever thought of it.

Well in the great Heroes tradition of editing out totally vital information, they had a line in the script that explained the healing blood only works once for a person.
Thank GOD they edited that out. :rommie: Inventing a bs cheap out is bad enough, but inventing arbitrary bs rules for the cheap out would make things worse. A line that that would be a throw-a-shoe-at-the-TV moment. Like this show has so few of those, huh?

Or are they saying that since he was restored by Adam's blood that Claire's blood wouldn't affect him?

Yeesh. A line that that would be a throw-a-couch-at-the-TV moment.

I'm not opposed to eliminating that deus ex machina. It's just that it was already introduced and at least how to be touched on why they couldn't do it again. I could buy the "diminishing returns" argument.

Nathan was already healed once with Adam's blood after being badly burned in season two.

I always thought the magic blood was a horrible idea that should have never been introduced. Another one of season two's mistakes.

I can't believe I forgot about that. Nevermind, then.

-I have no idea how to just quote a tiny portion of Temis' huge post.

Hit the quote button and edit it like any other text in the posting window.

Or cut-and paste just the line you want into a new post window and use the quote button above the window.

Easy-peasy.
