Heroes and Sidekicks

We all know Batman hangs out with Robin, even Aquaman swims with Aqualad. What other superheroes have sidekicks. I'm not the most knowledgable person when it comes to superheroes, so help me out here.

A lot of DC-ers have sidekicks, superheroic or otherwise. Here's a few examples

Batman has a whole team of sidekicks and former sidekicks - 5 Robins and 3 Batgirls, one of each went on to become Nightwing (who himself became Batman) and Oracle respectively

Speedy/Arsenal/Red Arrow for Green Arrow (and Speedy II for that matter)

Stripesy for the Star-Spangled Kid, and S.T.R.I.P.E. for S-SK II/Stargirl - notable as an adult sidekick for a teen hero

Kato for Green Hornet

Sandy the Golden Boy/Sand/Sandman for the Wesley Dodds Sandman

The Marvel family to some extent (primarily Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Marvel; also Uncle Marvel and Tawky Tawny)

Superboy (Connor Kent), the Supergirls, the Wonder Girls, the Kid Flashes, and Impulse count more as "junior heroes" or "legacy heroes" than sidekicks I think, but they might qualify.

the Thunderbolt for Johnny and then Jakeem Thunder

Jimmy Olsen and Etta Candy would count as non-heroic versions for Superman and Wonder Woman, respectively. And I think Hal Jordan had a human pal who's somewhat problematic for today's audiences, right?

For Marvel, the most famous of course would be Bucky Barnes for Steve Rogers' Captain America

Kitty Pryde served as a sort of "sidekick" to Wolverine at times, and later on Jubilee did the same; but the X-books tend to have a more ensemble cast

The original Human Torch had Toro.

Rick Jones has been everyone's sidekick at one time or another, but most notably the Hulk, Captain America, and Captain Marvel.

And the Justice League had Snapper Carr.

Flash had Kid Flash. (who later became the Flash)

Wonder Woman had adventures with Wonder Tot and Wonder Girl ( who were actually younger versions of herself) Later, through editorial error, they had Wonder Girl join the Teen Titans and the Who is Wonder Girl/Donna Troy fiasco began. ;)

I wouldn't count Captain Marvel, jr and Mary Marvel as sidekicks since they starred in their own solo comics without Captain Marvel.

Hawkgirl/woman was Hawkman's sidekick/partner.

IIRC, Black Canary got her start as a sort of sidekick to Johnny Thunder. ( and later took his slot in Flash Comics)

Captain America and the Human Torch gained female sidekicks for a while: Golden Girl and Sun Girl respectively.)

One hero I'm sure has never had a permenant sidekick has been Spider-Man. The closest he came I think was his own clone!

Good point. Although the Teen Titans consisted of sidekicks plus some original heroes.

Don't be silly. He's clearly Black Cat's sidekick. ;)

Ultimate Spide-Man (which I really do need to read) has what you might call a team of sidekicks if you want to, with Iceman and Human Torch's presence, and formerly Shadowcat's role.

it's more a team of junior heroes, Spidey, Torch, Shadowcat and Iceman all hang out together and Jonny and Bobby are resident at Aunt May's with Peter and Gwen, post Ultimatum.

Someone who knows the comics better than me would have to answer this question. Does War Machine count as a sidekick?

Booster Gold and Skeets.

The Spectre and Percival Popp, the Super Cop.

Martian Manhunter and Zook.

Miracleman and Young Miracleman, Miraclewoman, and, the famous total asshole, Kid Miracleman.

Mr. America (aka The Americommando) and the Fat Man.

TNT and Dan the Dyna-Mite.

Captain America had--in addition to the others mentioned--the Falcon for a period of time.

Perhaps, although you could argue that the Falcon was more a partner than a sidekick.

Although that's a slippery distinction, I admit.
