Henry Cavill in the 4th film?

Who Mourns For Adonais? remixed in Kelvin style could actually be a great direction for them to go. Marvel have gone plenty weird with some of the sci-fi aspects of the MCU. I'd love to see Kelvin 4 being a bit more offbeat.

I can actually imagine Henry Cavill in a gold toga though.

Okay, but suppose they really are thinking of him, or the article, among other things, makes them consider him.

Possible Kelvinverse roles (originally TOS/TAS)
* Kevin Riley - doesn't strike me as a jokey guy
* Decker Sr. - Hmmm
* Garrovick
* Arex - who replaces Chekov
* A Klingon?
* Sam Kirk grown up

Your thoughts?
My thought on that is:

Why does it need to be a character already known / already seen? Why is it important to re-do that which has already been done?

The point of having an alternate timeline in the first place was so that settings and characters and stories NOT already seen could be explored, so why not someone new? Why not a species other than the Klingons / Romulans / Andorians / Tellarites / figures from Earth legend & history / etc. we've already seen so much?

Yes, that notion sort of got kicked to the side under studio pressure by the time the second movie was being written, but it still COULD be an entirely new character / new species / new story.

Honestly I would like that. "Who Mourns for Adonais?" is a guilty pleasure of mine, partially because of the Greek gods, and Apollo being one of my favorites. Cavill could pull off the smug superiority of Apollo quite well, and I think would be quite creative, and could expand his powers, and possibly include more of the pantheon.

Cavill could be a scientist, trying to save his world from dying and unable to convince anyone of the true threat. He starts looking for solutions in the stars, but is hobbled by a ban on space exploration. Willing to break the taboo, he sends probes—one of which is found by the Enterprise. Poses a Prime directive dilemma. Also significant technical challenges. Recollections of previous planetary tragedies but now one offering a chance to save people.

Just spitballin’. :whistle:

Cavill could play Kirk. Hell, Cavill could play ShatnerKirk if they wanted him to. He played VaughnSolo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

He really couldn't, he's a very limited, Wooden actor. He seems to only work in roles where he plays cynical, cold characters (Witcher, MI Fallout, Enola), and his other roles aren't well received, or flop with mainstream audiences (Man from Uncle).

The source of this 'rumor' is made-up clickbait btw. ST4 is sadly, but understandably, quite dead.

You're wrong.

I have to go with the facts. The poor box office of his 'lead' films proves me right. His wooden performance as Superman didn't work with mainstream audiences. WB has been trying to get rid of him since 2017, and there were never any concrete plans to give him solo sequel.

Man From Uncle didn't win mainstream audiences over either, and it flopped.

His best received stuff has been Witcher, MI:Fallout and Enola. He is best suited for TV roles, and his upcoming Warhammer project is a good fit for his range. He's playing another cynical, cold character there.

While I gave my doubts about Pine returning, even today he is talking down the possibility; https://variety.com/2023/film/news/...rsed-jj-abrams-star-trek-4-script-1235539548/ Cavill would be a major downgrade.

Yup. I know they originally wanted a Man of Steel sequel. Then the film came out to a very divisive reaction, was critically rotten, poor WOM, and most notably had a weak 11% ROI (return on investment) theatrically. So WB got nervous and made Affleck the lead of the next one, threw Batman into the fold. The rest is history.

eh, is it not ironic chris pine became a better leading man in the DC movie universe playing Steve Trevor compared to Henry Cavill who was superman.

I think henry can join trek 4. however he should not really be paid the same as the top 4.

Quinto is about to headline an NBC TV show. Saldana is now an iconic sci fi actress, Pine is doing okay, Urban is the central character of the most watched comic book tv show.

So I will say all 4 actors Pine, Saldana, Quinto and Urban will be paid more than Henry.

who do we blame Zack Snyder or Henry for Man of Steel?

be that as it may I will say Pine and Quinto are better more natural actors on screen than Henry.
