Somebody really needs to try to find a way to properly show sarcasm on the internet, because it seems like no matter how obvious the sarcasm is someone thinks they are serious, and alot of times that someone is me.

    Perhaps he meant "beadle".

His brother, the Miscreant Bede, always felt he'd gotten the short end of the stick.

I think the Miscreant Bede could have written a book more entertaining than the Venerable Bede's History of the Church and People of England, which I've actually read (for a medieval history course at university). History of the Taverns and Blackguards of England, perhaps.

I couldn't help but think of this thread when I was watching Seinfeld last night, because in the episode (The Statue) George actually made a reference to something being anathema. Best of all I'm pretty sure he actually pronounced it right.

Just for everyone's amusement, Peter David uses the word in "Before Dishonor." I believe it's on pg 107.

Actually, I think it's Gaelic... "bhfuiddhaillhe"

Then again, that might be the Romulan. :rommie:

Of course, if it weren't for their segment going long on Ed Sullivan, we would have also seen The Rutles, who are known to have said after being cut due to time: "Beadles... Beetles... Can somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in, where men dressed up as *women* get all of our time? This show needs anathema!"

    Or not...
