Help! Seeking old VHS TOS advert from 80's/90's...

Hi everyone, new to the forum and hoping you good people may be able to help as I've heard this is the main forum to come to for all things Trek?
Years back, when TNG was first released on VHS with 2 episodes on each video cassette, I started snapping them up and would watch them back to back. From memory, the majority of them had a advert on them prior to the main episodes, where the producers (I guess) had created a sort of TOS mix of all the best scenes with a narrative over the top throughout. I may be getting confused but I thought I remembered it starting with the classic 'Space..the final frontier...' speech, but each line broken up by different Trek characters such as Kirk, Spock etc.
The one thing I definitely remember is roughly half way through the ad the narrative says the immortal 'They have been our guides, our protectors...and our friends' (just the same as Plummer's speech in the Undiscovered Country teaser trailer) but each part of the line is accompanied by the following clips:
1. '...our guides' has the clip with Kirk in Voyage Home saying "Everyone remember where we parked"
2. '...our protectors' being the slow zoom-out shot of Kirk standing there with his phaser in a aggressive stance
3. '...our friends' showing the TOS crew laughing together (possibly with Kirk whimsically tapping someone's stomach as he laughs?)
Not sure if some of you know the exact advert I mean but, in short, our house was burgled a few years after and I lost all the VHS tapes along with many other things :( I've managed to since replace them all on DVD however the particular advert no longer exists on the DVD's and I was hoping firstly I haven't actually dreamt it (lol) and secondly that some of you might have it or know where I could view it.
This might all sound odd I know, but I always loved the ad and at the time I was going through a particularly rough time in my life and it always gave me a reassuring comfort when I watched it and it would be great to keep for old times sake.
I've searched YouTube and Googled the lines as best as I can remember, but all that seems to ever come back in the searches is the Undiscovered Country teaser trailer. While that trailer is one of the all-time greats, I am hoping that someone out there would be able to help or point me in the direction of where I can watch this ad I remember so well? Ideally if any of you have the VHS tapes anymore you will know the one I mean and may even be looking on your shelves and loading the tapes into your VHS player as I type-if so, I would be so grateful if you could maybe upload it onto YouTube or if anyone has a link to the video somewhere? Aside from myself, I hope that a lot of us would enjoy watching it again and it is with that thought that I'll stop warbling on and on lol ;D
Thank you well in advance and look forward to any feedback from you guys and girls with my search :)

Matt

Worth noting that I think this was for the UK only releases.

Fond memories of this advert as well - no, you're not imagining

Narrator: "They are part of the dream called Star Trek..."
Kirk Clip: "A dream that became a reality and spread throughout the stars!"
Narrator: "Unparalleled in its success..."
Kirk Clip: "That fact isn't in the history books"
Riker Clip: "It's got to be worth a couple of pages in somebody's book!"

Obviously made an impression as I suspect, sad as it is, I can probably recite most of the remaining clips and narration as well!

It was on all CIC Trek VHS for a good couple of years. Given Trek videos are available for pennies on ebay these days, maybe just easier to pick up an old copy. If you still have a video recorder, of course! (sadly, I don't).

Thanks TS I'm relieved someone knows the same ad and more so that you remember the narration so well-I can remember that particular segment very well now you've reminded me :) Yes, good point as well about it being a UK-only release (I'll amend the original thread if I can to reflect).

I haven't got a video recorder anymore unfortunately but I'll keep an eye out on eBay and see if any friends have one I could borrow to watch it. I know it costs an arm & a leg these days to have VHS converted to DVD-so much so it would be cheaper just buying a video recorder lol.

Got it!!

TS thanks very much mate it was your comment about it being 'CIC' that produced a result via Google/YouTube.

I was pretty much bang on with remembering the 'They have been our guides...' section even down to Kirk tapping Scotty's stomach when they laugh :) As for the zoom-out shot of Kirk in the '...our protectors...' part? In my humble opinion it still has to be one of the finest pieces of Trek cinematography and embodies why he's always regarded as a legend-no matter what timeline or generation.

Grateful thanks once again and for everyone else who sees this post I hope the link to the advert brings back brilliant memories ;)

Is it a coincidence that the best Trek trailers of these types were made before Voyager and Enterprise?;)

At about 1:55 in the youtube trailer between the Enterprise firing on the Tholian vessel and a scene with Khan from Star Trek 2, there is a scene of the Enterprise D passing a gas giant? with a blue moon. Does anyone know what episode that's from? It didn't look familiar to me.

If memory serves that's from "The Host".

I literally set up an account just to say thank you!!! I've thought about that trailer for years, had it dubbed on to the end of my Generations promotional VHS.

Haha welcome Lee, I'm glad the post has helped you out too! :techman: I used to love watching the intro each time I put a tape in and it was all part of the build up for the episodes. Certain things in your mind you remember and always wish you could watch again but have no idea how to find it-thankfully this forum came through in volumes :D
