Help Looking For A Book I Read A While Back

USS Triumphant

Vice Admiral

Anyone ever hear/see/read of this as the basis for a story? The protagonist finds that when they dream, they can "see" through someone else's eyes, observe what they are doing, perhaps even hear what they hear. Sort of a "Being John Malkovich" effect. Does this concept sound familiar to anyone?

Check the literature section of this TVTropes page, and there are a few examples listed there relating to dreams:

These came up when I ran a search on Google:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1661957.Wake
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9542582-slide

And while it's not within the parameters you listed above, the novel that immediately popped into my head was Robert Sawyer's FlashForward, where almost everyone on Earth (with exceptions that become important as the story goes on) experiences visions of what they soon recognize was their own futures, some peacefully while dreaming, and some while operating vehicles that then crash as a result.

Thanks, Locutus - a lot of excellent suggestions there. Unfortunately, none of them are it though.

If you or anyone else has any more suggestions, keep 'em coming, please and thank you. :)
