Help. Is the bridge still atop the saucer?

I have a friend who insists the bridge of JJPrise is not at the top. He says someone exits the bridge directly and walks out into a deck.

I saw the flick but twice, so I can't check, but I assume he's wrong. Googling for blueprints hasn't worked.

Any proof the bridge is on top? Nothing riding this. Just want to be sure i'm right.

You can see the bridge window (it's a window now, and not just a viewscreen) here. It's the horizontal illuminated slot on screen left. I'm surprised your buddy thinks it's inside, given that there was a shot that pulled out from the bridge and over the top of the ship, firmly establishing its location. (There aren't many good screencaps of that, but this is from the start of the shot, and this is from about midway through)

The bridge is at the front of the deck, at the base of the dome on top of the saucer. There are corridors and rooms (including perhaps the transporter room?) behind and around.

But the bridge is no longer the top deck of the ship. In the aforementioned pullback shot, you can see two windows on the side of the dome above the level of the bridge window, and in the "under construction" teaser trailer, two levels are visible in the structure above.

So... deck three?

FWIW, the USS Kelvin's bridge is also a room at the front of the dome on top. One of the branching corridors (Robau and George walk around another one on their way to the turbolift) is visible in this threadbomb I made ages ago (I can't find the original source pic).

I actually like the bridge window and the bridge placement on the Abramsverse version. Just the rest of it isn't as aesthetically pleasing as what came before.

Changing the location of the bridge and the viewscreen to a window were two of the things that seemed totally wrong to me in the Abrams version.

That all depends on whether its all the same universe now, thanks to Nero and Spock.

Since the timeline was altered(erased, re-shaped)immediately after Nero's arrival, and to some extent Spock's, it's no longer the same universe.

J.J. Abrams' successful prequel/reboot certainly wiped the slate clean as far as continuity is concerned. With a new 23rd Century world having been created by the alteration, an infinite number of possibilities have been opened.

Well you could get onto the Ent-D bridge from the observation lounge, whcih appeared to lead into a corridoor, and the Ent-E could be accessed via a ladder (FC).

Only during the first season when the observation lounge and sickbay were the same set. After that, the lounge just led to a short corridor to a turbolift.

In addition, there is apparently an unseen doorway opposite the one that leads to the observation lounge. Commonly believed to lead to restrooms, it could also give access to stairs or a ramp down to deck two.

I figure the black hole scattered not only spaceships throughout time but also debris from all the stars and planets it consumed, throwing the debris throughout all of time and space, including the early universe.

It would be neat if the next movie opened with something close to the epilogue of one of the classic TOS eps. It would drive home the point that this crew is having many of the same adventures that the original one did; we're just seeing different ones.
