Help identifying a scifi movie sort of like "Cube"

Okay in advance, this is a really stupid question, but its been gnawing at me for some time.

I once saw a magazine article, with pictures, on a scifi film that was sort of like "Cube" but I never got around to seeing it and I don't remember the name. It *might* have never been finished; it sounded like an indy/Canadian scifi film idea.

The plot was basically (near as I can remember) that in the future the extremely wealthy could buy a "personal computer" which was as advanced as a human being.....because little did they know, an actual human being was cyborged into a computer interface -- either pod-grown or memory wiped, and basically in a Kafka like way, their only knowledge of the world outside their "box" was in the dribs and drabs of info they got doing their owner's taxes, recording their TV, etc. The whole complex actually has hundred of "boxes" like some warped server-farm facility; and one of these cyborged computer guys manages to contact the cyborged computer woman in the next box over, and plan their escape.

Again, I only saw this in a magazine or something and a *while* ago, but it sounded like a "Cube" style idea....

....I wouldn't ask, except that try to imagine that its been just grating on me for *weeks* if this was even a real film, which I'm pretty sure it was, as an indy project.
