Help finding an episode

Hi folks, I'm looking for an episode of star trek but I dont even know if it exists. Basically i'm sure i remember watching an episode of star trek, i think it may have been the next generation, where they finally came into contact with the typical type of alien, like roswell style, greys, and they were all computer generated. Does this episode exist or and i talking rubbish?

Any help would be great. This has been bugging me for years!

Cheers folks!

The closest thing I can think of is the TNG episode "Schisms," in which Riker and others are being abducted and experimented upon by aliens but having their memories wiped. They work together to re-create the scenario in the holodeck. They figure out how to keep Riker conscious during his next abduction, so then he encounters the actual aliens (not holodeck versions).

Here are some screencaps:

While the whole thing is very similar to today's urban legends of UFOs and alien abductions, I don't think that connection was specifically made in the episode.

Are you maybe thinking of Barash (he was somewhat insectoid) from Future Imperfect?

or the Devidians from Time's Arrow?:

The OP said Grey. In all of Trekdom, I believe the only time we saw a "grey" was Future Imperfect as mentioned.

When it comes to appearance, Barash from "Future Imperfect" was really the only one.

But in behavior, the unnamed aliens in "Schism" were just like something from the UFO/alien abduction stories that get circulated today. And that episode involved computer-generated stuff in the holodeck. So I think that's the closest match to the OP question.

Hi folks, thanks for your help but unfortunately its none of these. The aliens where definately fully computer generated, naked, greys, but im sure they were slightly purple.

Thank you for trying to help but the search goes on... Maybe it wasnt star trek at all, or maybe a TNG movie?

Definitely not a TNG movie, and it doesn't much sound like it's any Trek at all. Can you remember anything else about it?

Stargate SG-1, where they first saw that hologram of Thor in Asgard form instead of the Viking one?

Right, I was thinking Stargate too. Or perhaps when billionaire Alec Colson threatened to expose the Asgard (Grays) using a hologram in Convenant (Season 8, Ep. 8)?

Sorry folks, it doesnt look like its Stargate to me. Never mind, thanks for your help though. But on a positive note I really want to go through all TNG now lol I used to love watching it with my dad!

I'm pretty sure the only completely CG aliens in all Trek are Species 8472, and they definitely aren't grey. They are kind of purple though.

Species 8472 don't look like Roswell "grey" aliens at all. You lied to us!

I'm pretty sure the only completely CG aliens in all Trek are Species 8472
Xindi Aquatics, Xindi Insectoids, ENT Tholian, ENT Gorn...probably more.

Hmm, I forgot about the Xindi sub-species, but Tholians and Gorn appeared non-CG in TOS, so they aren't "completely CG." Although, thinking the matter over, I guess there were a few other CG aliens on Enterprise, the Silent Enemy aliens for example.

The matter is academic, as the answer turned out to be Species 8472 anyway.

Well it's not CGI but it is a puppet head so I thought I'd just throw it out there. How about Balok's alter ego from TOS "The Corbomite Manuever?"
