Hell's Kitchen Returns

I told my wife right before Gordon announced who was going to be kicked off that if Jen was not sent home this week, I was not watching this show anymore.

Unlike last year, where I wanted Rock to win. This year, any of the remaining three can win and I would be happy. While Corey is not my all over favorite, I think she would be okay. I like both Christina and Patroza and think either would do an excellent job.

Oh man, I'm so glad Jen is gone.

Wow. I, mean. She was way too much 'tude and too full of her self. She was a Grade-A BITCH.

Good BYE! And thanks for all the fish! (That Corey's undercooked.)

Can't believe she sent out undercooked fish. That makes her unworthy in my book.

Christina, I guess, I can't fault her too much for the hot pans. Gordon, really, probably should've been grabbing for the hot, metal, handles with a towel or something (as I've seen him do to other pots.) And, damn, I've said this before but... Christina cleans up really nicely.

It's interesting how catty Corey is towards her and how much they don't get along yet they work really well together in the kitchen. Paying attention JEN?!

Oh, that's right, it doesn't matter because you're GONE!!!!

Petroza? Stole my taste-buds with his take on the Monte Cristo.

I don't think his "style" is befitting of a fine-dining restaurant, though. Infact, though I wouldn't mind seeing any of them win, I don't think any of them are a "fit" for Gordon's London: Los Angeles.

I have to agree with you. In fact the only one I though was actually somewhat was Bobby. Unlike Top Chef, which chooses a better quality of chefs. Hells Kitchen seams to pick characters so Gordon can yell at them. I think this is sad, especially because of the prize. I wish in the future they would get better chefs.

I am definitely thrilled that Jen is gone. I don't really like Christina because she's too obnoxiously sweet and I'm pretty sure it's just an act, and Corey is sort of vindictive and doesn't care about the customers (undercooked fish is a health risk). I like Petrozza but I agree that his style of cooking isn't really fine dining. However, I think he's more up to the task than the other two.

This season has been really bad. Past seasons, at least, had some "ringers" in it that were worth-while and *maybe* capable of running a higher-end restaurant. But I really think the first season's "prize" was the best where it was winning your own restaurant, period. Not one already established inside a hotel/casino or one being built, which I think puts undue pressure on the fact that the "winner" has to be especailly good.

Patroza !!!!! CLEAN UP THAT MESS YOU DONKEY!!!!!

Well, I'm very late to this party, but I didn't know there was a thread.

I've been watching all season and having a blast. I liked little Louross and also sweaty Matt and recognized Bobby as a phony early on. He was always slacking in the background but never delivering under pressure. I hated Jen and was crushng on Corey from day one... and man was I glad to see Jen finally get hers. She talked too much and was really full of herself the skills she constantly bragged about never seemed to materialize fully. She had a temper problem and pouted every time she got yelled at... and she didn't seem to understand that you do not argue with Chef. This past week when she refused to cook the quail's eggs for the scallops (which was the job of her station) and claimed she was too busy while stirring just one risotto, and Ramsay saw her doing it, I knew right then she was gone. She was not a team player and her efforts to sabotage Corey backfired on her. Ding-dong the witch is dead.

I'd have to say that while I am still crushing on pretty Corey, I also recognize her as an inadequate chef. Christina cleaned up well last week during her shopping trip prize, and while she seems competent as a commie or sous chef I don't think it's going to be her win in the end. I think the whole "dirty Petrozza" thing has been a ruse to keep our eye off the ball. Petrozza is going to be the winner.

I think you may be right about Petrozza, but not because he can cook. Ramsey is not looking for a creative chef, he wants one he can trust to run the other chefs in the kitchen. Petrozza has what neither of te other two have - experience running a business as a catering director.

That qualifies him above the other two.

But even then, none belong in a top flight kitchen.

I'm really hoping we get to hear a "C'mere, you."

Oh I'm sure we will.

I'm waiting for a great insult. Like in the second season where he, in a very deliberate tone, repeated an order to one of the cooks and then finished it with, "There! Now would you like me to eMail that to your fucking blackberry?!"

Yeah, saw that as well..that was brilliant! I laughed so hard I fell off the bed. :) And I do love his Hell's Kitchen..I love it when he says: "oh, f** me senseless!"!!!! Then bangs his head on the frig when one of the chefs doesn't do something right. :)

I've been feeling really good about Hell's Kitchen the last few weeks. Tonight's was another good episode and the two chefs who deserve it the most IMO are in the finals. Kinda feel bad for Corey though since I was actually starting to like her but Christina and Petroza have been the best of late. I'm really looking foward to the finale. Despite wavering a bit with my Christina pick throughout the season, I'm still sticking with it. I think she's been the best all around all season and the challenges sure did help. Whoever wins, I really wouldn't mind though.

Christina doesn't have the experience, but damn is she hot!

Go Petroza!

Oh, and I would NOT want Jen on my team. I'd sooner be down one person than have her anywhere near my kitchen. You know she'll do whatever she can to undermine the finalist.

I was disappointed to see Corey go... I think she was more genuine than Christina and probably a more experienced, better cook, but she was deluding herself thinking Christina's challenge victories didn't count for anything. I also find it interesting that Christina seemed to be getting prettier over the past couple of episodes while Corey seemed to be getting more and more plain and I wonder if make-up and the decisions of producers had anything to do with that. Is it really all Ramsay's decision or do the producers guide the eliminations, do you think?

I am not happy to have to see freaking Jen again next week, though I am interested to se what role she and some of the other eliminated contestants will play. I can definitely do without more Jen drama and arrogance! I sure hope they returnees aren't in any way judging Christina and Petrozza.

I still think Petrozza will win out in the end... at least I hope so. To give such a plum job to a third-year culinary student just doesn't seem right. She may have good instincts and a natural talent for food but she doesn't have the experience or maturity to handle a kitchen while Petrozza has been doing so for years.

I have to wonder what exactly the title "executive chef" means in the context of the show. I suspect it's a largely symbolic job... Ramsay is too clever a businessman to allow some contest winner to have any real effect on one of his restaurants. I imagine the winner essentially becoming the world's best paid commis with the real value of the prize (apart from the money) being the chance to learn in one of Ramsay's kitchens for a year. I also highly doubt the winner can expect the job to last past the prize period.

If I'm not mistaken, at least one of the previous three winners took a "cash alternative" to the actual job, didn't they? Anyone know what has become of Rock from last year?

I also wonder if having appeared on the show and done well would carry any weight if one of these chefs decided to apply for a real job working in one of Ramsay's restaurants. He's got quite the empire, but he can also afford to hire only the very best.

First season winner Michael was offered an apprenticeship with Ramsey back in England at the end, rather than the restaurant. He accepted but later declined it after discussing things with his pregnant fiancee. He was then re-offered a restaurant (and IIRC back then the prize was simply financial backing/providing of your own restaurant) and he declined that, taking a cash alternative that he used to start his own company making professional knives and he eventually got an executive chef postion in another restaurant.

An Executive Chef is mostly responsible for coming up with dishes and the menu in a restaurant and running the kitchen. (other people run the business end of the restaurant.)

The "assertive training" bit is lame. What does that play acting really accomplish? And it just comes across as silly. They've already been proven on film as genuinely aggressive and shouty by nature (well, maybe except for Patroza). Lose this nonsense, Hell's Kitchen :p

Could care less which of the girls made the cut - Patroza should have advanced to the final two and I'm pulling for his win.

The Jen preview makes it look like - the bitch is back

I only hope that if one of the finalists HAS to use Jen...that the "assertiveness training" comes out on full!

That may actually be the tipping point...can you control a Jen?

Why did I just learn last night...or actually listen enough to learn...that Christina is from near my home town? That will teach me not to multitask while this show is on.

Best of luck to both.

Oh of course, that's it! The returnees will become the finalists' kitchen crew! I can't believe I didn't see it!

Man, I feel sorry for whoever winds up with Jen... particularly if it's Christina! Out of the returnees I'd pick Corey, Bobby and Louross for my team, I think.

Can't wait 'til next week. I'm sorry to see the season end but I can't wait to see how it does so!
