Heir To The Empire - D+ movie?

Yeah, that's gotta be BS, I just don't see how they could even do it at this point. The characters are all in such different places from where they were in the book, that if by some chance they tried to do it, it would have to be so different that it would be unrecognizable, which would kind of defeat the whole point of doing it.

That IS kind of how the MCU does adaptations though... barely recognizable.

The only way I would buy this is after a build up in Ahsoka and the Mandalorian. Than a special event type project might be possible within that context for a version of the tale that was "Heir to the Empire". But with less use of the Heroes of Yavin and perhaps not even that much of a come back campaign by Grand Admiral Thrawn against the New Republic, but more a distraction for the First Order to setup in hiding while Thrawn becomes the scapegoat and lulls the Galaxy into a sense of peace after he is dealt with.

Yes, if that piece of crap "Heir to the Empire" was made as a movie, it would definitely rate a D+.

Ah yes. Is this the same clickbait bullshitters who a few months ago were saying it had been "confirmed" George Lucas was writing & directing a new 789 Star Wars trilogy to replace TFA, TLJ, TROS?

That's George Lucas, 77, almost 78, right now. Who by the time the last film in said trilogy would come out he'd be like late 80s? Yep definitely true :techman:

There's a YouTube channel I found a while back, I wish I could remember the name to find it, who puts daily videos on of just completely made up Star Wars "news" nonsense. Doesn't even say it's rumoured, they're all presented as total facts. And you click each one and look at the comments, and no one is calling it out, all just believing it. It's amazing. Like you really realise how dumb as **** most people out there are

I doubt Heir to the Empire will be adapted, but I do fully expect at some point to see a Star Wars movie featuring Luke, Leia, and Han deepfaked into their prime. It feels like all the stuff with Luke in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett is a test bed for the technology/audience reaction. Can't think of anything else at this point that would be a box office draw for Disney. Well, maybe the Rian Johnson trilogy.

Split the difference. Perhaps Timothy Zahn is working on a project for them.

Do you like anything?

Haha I wanted to post this so many times, but don't want to get banned lol

I'm happy to discuss things I like all the live long day. Sadly, my two favorite franchises, ST and SW, have been delivering a LOT of crap lately. It's not my fault.

Although, in this particular case, Heir to the Empire is quite old. But it's still lousy!

(that said, the one saving grace from the Zahn Trilogy was Admiral Thrawn and I was happy to see him in Rebels. Not sure I want to see him in live action, if only because I'm getting exhausted by current SW tv series endlessly strip-mining the lore with a constant parade of cameos and appearances from characters from across the franchise.)

I loved Rogue one and the Last Jedi and I think "The Mandalorian" is kind of pretty good, sometimes. Does that count?

I can see Disney executives saying that it's non-canon, it's an alternate continuity (just before leaving stage and bursting into laughter at people for caring about continuity).

Lucasfilm (Disney) actually cares a lot about continuity and won't do this for that reason alone.

Yeah, I mean, Lucasfilm now employs people whose job is to specifically make sure continuity lines up.
Well sort of.

They can't tell writers what they can do, but they can tell them when they're doing something contradicts something else, and they're consultants on the canon. The story group, or at least Pablo tries to explain things that might not be clear in the side materials, like the Visual Dictionaries for the movies.

Some writers listen more than others. Like from what I hear, the Rogue One, Solo and TLJ writers embraced the Story group more than JJ Abrams did. The novel and comic writers as well.

Yeah, it's pretty clear after Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian, and Kanan/Kaleb in The Bad Batch, that the story group can't stop the movies and shows from contradicting other media. I wouldn't be surprised if they have at least a bit more veto power over what goes into the books and comics though.
