FINALLY they know vital signs of people on the away teams and know instantly when they are killed! Being the future and all, this makes sense, and it is about time that technology existed in the future! Makes sense, and I am glad they showed that.

At least it showed up once then, and we know it exists and that they DO monitor away teams vitals!

I remember that the TNG Tech Manual claimed that the Operations and Mission Operations stations on the Enterprise-D did the same thing.
 
I actually loved ALL the viewscreen/window HUD-type overlays. Shield strength, black hole warnings, collision detections etc.

Very nice (and logical) touch.

I agree. It's only logical. The only thing missing was an optical sensor that could have easily been attacked to his uniform. We have this technology now. Who knows how advanced it would be in 300 years.
