A lot to chew on but I loved the premiere. I think I knew about Lena Waithe and maybe even Tommy Flanagan appearing in this season, but I had no idea John Gallagher Jr., Pom Klementieff, and Thomas Kretschmann were also going to appear. All of them are great additions to the show, even though it seems unlikely Kretschmann will return. But this is
Westworld after all and Flanagan's Martin Connells is already dead but Flanagan will certainly be back, so any thing is possible.
Of course, the biggest new face is Aaron Paul's Caleb and I already quite like him. The man is lost in the world, after a shady past (military and what looks like mercenary work) and can't find his place in the world. And now he's going to find himself square in the middle of Dolores's big plans for the world. Should be fun to watch how that all plays out.
One thing in particular that I really liked was how Bernard had the conscious ability to switch between two different modes, the unassuming humanlike Bernard who is trying to keep his head down and the self-aware Host who has full access to his robotic abilities. Interesting how he has decided to try to remain as incognito as much as possible in the humanlike mode, resorting to the Host mode whenever threatened or needs to check if someone (i.e. Dolores) is fucking with him again.
The one big question left deliberately hanging: Whose spheres are inside of Charlotte and the newly created Martin?
One episode in and we already have a new world to look forward to: NaziWorld and Maeve stuck right in the middle of it. You have to some kind of sick fuck to enjoy role playing during that time period, even as the resistance, but then we already know most of the people who visit are sick fucks so...
I admire Maeve, but I'm pretty much Team Delores.
