HBO has been known to halt production a number of times in the past for writing reasons, from The Sopranos to The Leftovers.
... Is this a remake of the old movie with Yul Brynner?

The shutdown on the show is temporary, according to the network, which plans its debut later this year.
“As we head into the final phase of production on ‘Westworld,’ we’ve made the decision to take a brief hiatus in order to get ahead of the writing,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement.
Re: HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abram
I just hope they don't go overboard with CGI - hopefully there's no reason to. The original is a great, suspenseful film.
I liked the original 1973 Westworld film because it had so much potential in it's premise. I did not like the changes in the sequel 1976 Futureworld film or the premise of the 1980 Beyond Westworld television series. I am hoping that this new Westworld television series lives up to the 1973 film and surpasses it.
Idk, that's what I am hoping for. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Westworld remake is sticking to the "androids" bit, aren't they? They're not doing some weird shit with VR or alternate universes like the Prisoner remake (which I admit I enjoyed quite a bit)?
Westworld done right, like the 1973 film, will be great today.
