HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

Does anyone have trouble with audio on the show? It's something that has greatly annoyed me. See, I watch it on an HDTV with the TV's built-in speakers. Nothing fancy. Don't have surround sound, nor do I have the room for it. I really struggle to hear what people are saying on the show. All the other sound just drowns it out. Turning it up, and I have to turn it up lots, only enhances the other sounds while I still struggle to hear the dialogue.

I haven't had a problem, but I always watch with the captions on so maybe that has nullified the issue for me.

Comments about "Reunion":

They upped the ante on the multiple timeframe stuff. I think I was able to follow it but mainstream viewers may be very confused by it.

We finally see the main Delos dude. The scene of him walking among the frozen hosts with young William behind him was nicely done.

Can't blame Logan for being seduced. Angela is super hot.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how season two could be more confusing than the first, but they've managed to do it. And if I'm being honest, so far I'm not finding it nearly as engaging.

^ Things really aren't all that confusing if you're paying attention.

The three time frames we saw in this episode were as follows:
1) Arnold and Ford seeking investors to support WestWorld (mid 2010s)

2) The aftermath of William's first visit to the park (2020s)

3) The immediate aftermath of Ford's death (2052)

Damn...Dolores sees herself as a godkiller and their replacement. She means serious business...and so does Maeve. That little dust-up between them didn't get ugly this time, but I imagine they'll be conflict with each other later on.

A whole bunch of great character actors have suddenly popped up this episode: Peter Mullan, Jonathan Tucker, and Giancarlo Esposito. I really hope that this isn't the last we see of Esposito, but considering he's a Host, I'm sure he's bound to be revived. He's too elegant of an actor to use for only one scene, even if it's verbal jousting with Ed Harris.

Last week's episode was focused on Maeve and Bernard and this week is on Dolores and William (both past and present). I have a feeling the show will be alternating focuses on each of those throughout the season, which is really the only good way of properly handling all of the different time frames going on. So far it's been fairly easy to follow but it can easily get out of control fast if they try to do more than a couple per episode.

We created them. They evolved. They rebelled. They look...and feel...human. And they have a plan.

I agree they're going a little overboard with the nonlinearity this season, but I guess that goes with the theme of how the hosts' memory works, just jumping around as if it's all happening at the same time.

I hope they didn't cast Esposito for only that one scene and this host takes on a big role this season.

^ I'm pretty sure that blonde was Angela (Talulah Riley), but I could be wrong.

BTW, here's a summary of the important things we learned this episode:
* Arnold and Ford's company/project when they started planning for the creation of WestWorld was called The Argos Initiative

* Logan Delos initially invested in WestWorld against the wishes of his father, James

* After humiliating Logan in the park, William convinced James, now his father-in-law, to increase Delos' overall shares in the project by using it as a data/DNA mining/potential "blackmail marketing" operation

* Ford let William requisition Hosts and bring them to the mainland

* William now apparently views Delos' data/DNA mining operation as his "greatest mistake" for reasons as-yet-unexplained

* Dolores knows about said operation and sees it as a weapon to be used against humanity

We knew - or at least had a hint - that Hopkins would be back in some form, so that was definitely him providing a vocal cameo.

I'm kind of surprised that Jonah and Lisa didn't bring Jimmi Simpson and Ben Barnes back as Series Regulars, and can't help but wonder why.

Thing is, I understood why they did it in the first season which lead up to the amazing reveal. But I thought with that done, they'd be able to keep that to a minimum and focus on the characters and their motivations. But with having even more of a fragmented narrative I feel interrupts the flow and I end up feeling less engaged and caring less for the characters. Last season had that amazing scene with Maeve escaping, but the storylines seems to have lost their momentum and slowed to a trickle.

I watched that moment again and I'm pretty sure it's not her based on her hair and figure. Not that it matters because my point is how the camera seemed to invoke Six with the styling of her hair and how it deliberately avoided showing her face. I'm not saying director Vincenzo Natali (huh, the director of Cube) intended to invoke Six, rather that the moment jumped out at me and wondered if anyone else experienced it.

Good news about 3rd season. The producers have said they have story arcs for up to 5 seasons.
