Hawaii 5-0: The Second Season Begins!

Enterprise is Great called it. Beyond a quick reference during season 1, Steve's mother has been virtually nonexistent. I still have that hunch that she was once in league with Wo Fat somehow.

Way to go CBS for spoiling part of the episode's cliffhanger by featuring the hashtag "#OhNoKono" at the beginning of the episode.

I noticed Kamekona brought balloons to Max with "Live Long and Prosper" along with the Vulcan hand gesture on them.

CBS has been doing that (annoyingly) for what seems like all it's season finales. CSI's was the (somewhat more) vague #TeaminTrouble.

Pretty exciting finale! Sad to see Fryer go--he's not who I would have guessed but as soon as he got that call I knew he was a goner.

Love how Steve learned his lesson and knew to call Danno this time before taking off on another Shelburne mission. And I knew it was going to be his mom!! I hope she's totally badass.

Poor Danny... glad he's fighting for custody of Grace, but seriously... this show goes out of its way to make Rachel look terrible.

Not surprised it was Malia and Kono in danger at the end of the episode... why do only women (leads/recurring) end up getting kidnapped/victimized in procedurals? Kono will live but I wonder if Malia will make it.

Thanks for ruining the ending CBS what with the hashtag at the beginning and the promos showing Kono in trouble..way to go promo department!!!! Whooo-hoooooooo!

5-0 definitely does the best action scenes of any tv show out there right now.

I was shocked that Joe made it out of the finale alive. Since ABC picked up Terry O'Quinn's pilot we may not see him again unless that show tanks hard. I do admit that for a second there I thought that Joe was setting Steve up for a bullet...but when he quitely opened the door I knew it was his Mother. I guessed that months ago. I wonder who they're getting to play her.

I knew that Chin would go for his wife. You always go for the wife.

To be fair it was Chin Ho who was victimized leading to the evidence locker heist and Kono's eventual shift with Internal Affairs

Sort of--I mean, I get what you're saying. He's the one who has to make the awful choice. But he's not the one getting tied up/shot and left for dead/thrown in the ocean and left for dead.

And come on... Kono is tough. She really just sat there waiting for the one guy to push her in the ocean? When his back was turned at one point (while he took the phone call)??

C'mon--it must have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars for some PR firm to create that hashtag. Money well spent! :p

As I tend to ignore most things Twitter including hashtags, I had more of a beef with CBS giving away all the twists in last week's teaser (Max getting shot, Kono being shoved off a boat into the ocean, William Baldwin showing up again). If I were in charge of a TV show, I'd film fake clips to be used in those teasers that may or may not actually appear in the episode to keep my audience guessing but that's just me...

I generally liked the episode, with a few moments where my suspension of disbelief went away:

--What kind of crappy cops or investigators don't clear the crime scene, leaving the shooter completely unnoticed hiding behind a dumpster 50 feet away from a dead body? Really?

--I thought the new Governor took away 5-0's immunity which would make Chin freeing William Baldwin's character from prison at the end of the episode a big :wtf:.

These things didn't ruin the episode for me but the show generally does a better job at being internally consistent (unless they're inconsistent in ways I managed to miss which is very possible).

She's a champion surfer. Her mad swimming skilz will save her!!!!

Poor Reiko Aylesworth....first 24, now 5-0. Every time she gets married on a show, she dies a violent death!

i hope McGarrett's mom is Asian -American. It'd be nice to have some diversity, especially in leadership. Any word on casting?

McGarrett doesn't look half Asian to me. Would Mrs McGarrett a leader?

He doesn't look Asian to me, either. I wish they'd expand Chin and Kono's roles... both are leads and should have more to do. At the end of the day, though, the draw of this show is really to see McGarrett and Danno bicker like an old married couple. I gotta say, watching Danno nag and bitch while McGarrett sighs and looks clueless like some sort of hen-pecked husband is pretty hilarious.

Speaking of, did anyone watch the rerun on Monday? It was the ep where Danno crashed at McGarrett's house and kept the TV on all night. Loved that scene where Steve has to get up to come turn the TV off.

I have a bad feeling Malia is not going to survive. :( Getting married on a procedural is never the safest thing to do, especially in season two!
