Have you ever been trapped in an elevator?

I have never been trapped in an elevator, but I have been trapped in a similar-sized space for about 6 hours. And I discovered I'm quite uncomfortable with small spaces; after an hour or two, I'd gotten steadily more angry and about the time I forced myself out I was batshit insane. Which quickly subsided due to the feeling of fresh air, fortunately. I really don't like small spaces.

That reminds me of something that happened to my father on 13 August 1980. It was my father's birthday. I was still in hospital after having my second child a few days before. My mother was at work so my Dad was minding my eldest son who was three years old at the time.

In Australia most toilets are in a separate from from the bathroom. The lock on my parents' tolet door was broken so the door couldn't be open fom the inside. My Dad went to the toilet and for some reason my son pulled the door closed on my father. My father was trapped in toilet for about 4 hours until my Mum arrived home from work. My Dad was very worried about what my son might be doing unsupervised but it turned out he was OK.

I've been trapped in an elevator a few times. I remember a couple of time happening with someone else, but most of the time I was alone.

I think my record is about 1 hour and a half. At least a couple of times I was trapped due to power outage, and I spent about an hour alone in complete darkness. I was fairly bored but it never really bugged me.

Luckily I have no problem with darkness or small spaces.

Sure, for about 30 minutes or so at work.
I was on my own so I just took it as an excuse to pass the time by reading a book:)

It was one of those elevators that had the big old fashioned brass sets of doors (Inner and outer) that you closed yourself. If I'd just got in, I'd have thought I hadn't shut the doors properly but it was in between floors.

I got stuck in the lift at work a couple of times, but it was only for 30 -40 minutes each time. The first time I was with a friend and we just talked until they opened the doors and the second time I was alone and popping out for a drink so I was a bit annoyed.

I usually take the stairs unless I have to go up 20+ stories, but no I've never been trapped in an elevator.

I've been trapped in an elevator several times. The best time was in the old Maternity Building at BMC. My office was on the 4th floor and when I got to the elevator one day it was pretty much filled with people, including a pizza delivery guy and the secretary from Pediatrics on 6, who I was friends with. I said I'd wait because it was so full, but she insisted and, since she was attractive and I'd be squeezed in with her, I relented. Sure enough, the elevator went about five feet and stopped. So I was trapped between an attractive woman and a hot pizza for about twenty minutes; not the worst day of my life. :rommie:

I teased her about that for months. :D

When I was working in Dundee I used to get stuck in the lift to my cellar all the time. It was a bit of a nightmare - especially as staff kept forcing their way out meaning I had to call for repair instead of just resetting the system.

Well.. until I started firing people for doing it...

No, but I have been trapped in a toilet minutes before a dancing contest. (We won, by the way.)
