Have you ever acted before?

This was going to be my answer. It's a fun role at times, full of scope for grand histrionics, elegant costuming, quirky charcters and a supporting cast of thousands... ;)

Sadly, without Derek Thompson. :(

Had to google. :o

For shaaaaaame. :guffaw:
Last time I watched Casualty must have been well over a decade ago (probably closer to 15 years) and I seem to remember him leaving back then. But imdb has him still in there. Guess he must have come back. Has he left again now?

I think he's still there. To me, he IS Casualty. :bolian:

I've been on stage, with the starring role since kindegarden-mainly because I was the only one who could remember all the lines

I was Clementine in "Oh my Darling", the main witch in "Which Witch is Witch" Lucy in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" to name a few.

In high school, our school when I was in Grade 12 decided to go to the Sears Drama Festival. We did a comedic take on Bonnie and Clyde in Tom Topor's "Here to Stay". I was the 'Bonnie' character named Lilyanne. I won best actress :D

I moved to Toronto after high school and began the auditon circut-mainly commercials and bit parts-which I got about a half dozen call backs, but never got the part :( I gave it a year. From that year all I got were two modelling jobs.

In university, for a benifit for the local women's shelter, I and two classmates produced and starred in "The Vagina Monologues". I was Woman One, who got to do the orgasms

I have wanted to do some community theatre, but haven't had the time.

Hi everyone.
It's not often I post in this forum, but I'm interested to know if anyone's ever acted before. I'm aware there are quite a few writers here (professional and amateur), but acting is of course quite a different thing in that anyone can try writing (not to sound disparaging of it or anyone), whereas for acting you generally have to be chosen.

So anyone done any acting in any capacity?

Yup, but let me tell you, acting is HARD WORK, especially if you are a major character. So I prefer material I'm very interested in...such as the writing of Aaron Sorkin...

Here, I was in a stage production of "A Few Good Men" when I was based in Germany. I'm the guy with the glasses (which I don't wear anymore, having gotten LASIK earlier this year).

I often feel as if I'm putting on an act in front of my students. Does that count?

As far as real trodding of the boards goes, like most posters above, my experiences started in grade school and went nowhere from there.
-- Mr. Dixon in a 6th grade production of "Room 222" (also co-writer of the play).
-- A knight in shining armour in a 6th grade skit "Love, American Style" (again, co-writer).
-- An 8th grade Christmas play. A very small role that I got only because my voice projected so well.

Yes. Lots of plays in high school, college, and then out in the real world...even got paid a few times (doing Shakespeare in the Park in Minneapolis, a commercial.) And I did improv...LOTS of improv.

I've gradually moved away from it, now more of a writer now--though when I was in grad school for playwriting, I still performed.

I love it. But to do it professionally? Well, the job of a professional actor is to audition and I hate auditioning, so....

I've done a bit, at school and with the local AmDram group. On my drama GCSE course we did bits of Accidental Death of an Anarchist, The Crucible and Shakers, as well as a lot of improv and devised stuff. I was also in A Christmas Carol and The King & I at school. Through a Saturday morning drama class I did for a bit, I was a gingerbread child in Hansel & Gretel.

Through the local AmDram group, I've done The Wizard of Oz (my first ever show), My Fair Lady, The Mikado, Oliver, a pantomime of The Sleeping Beauty, Fiddler on the Rook and most recently, Amahl and the Night Visitors.

I've also done lots of sketches in school assemblies, music hall stuff etc. I love it. :D

Fifth or Sixth grade performance of an "updated" Cinderella. I was the Fairy Godmother. I don't remember much. While there were two casts (and two performances), I was the Fairy Godmother for both. When I asked my Mom why, she said it was because I was the only one who knew all the lines for the play. And I remember that, in the second performance, the girl playing "Cindy" took waaaaay too long to change into her ballgown costume. I wasn't subtle about improv (wave the wand, repeat the line, look offstage--typical kid stuff).

That was enough to make me retire from the stage.
