If he wants to take on a giant space octopus by himself, he can... because he's the Badass Captain Robau.

Unfortunately, the spoilers seem to indicate the Badass Captain Robau gets killed by the Space Octopus when it destroys the Kelvin.

Fine by me. I can't think of anything more badass than going out fighting a fucking Space Octopus
