Have those who disliked the Abramsprise finally accepted design?

I pretty much like the ST09 Enterprise design, and have from the beginning. Certainly, it's a huge improvement over the supremely ugly original original 1701 as seen in TOS itself.
You are SO lucky I can't locate you on my sensors, beam to your location, & open up a can of Finnegan whoopass on your butt for that remark...
So it's taking a beautiful car design and destroying it by making ugly additions?
Go back to Kelvin & explain your findings, with some scotch.:guffaw:

Actually I thinking more of the headlight cowling on a '57 chev when I said that, but there are other design elements present from 50's cars.
Yes, I was focusing on MY favourite era designs, obviously.

The Edselprise sucks!
I am prepared to accept negative comment on a design I merely appreciate; dis the original OS design, and be prepared for full phaser fire.

Yes, but the ship is powered by beer. Function over form!

I think it looked decent onscreen. I wasn't too thrilled about the basic design before seeing the movie, but I felt the same way when I saw the first live-action Transformers images. I felt they looked too "busy" to keep them realistic, but they largely translated well onscreen.

Re: Have those who disliked the Abramsprise finally accepted the desig

I actually like it somewhat less now than I did originally. Call me strange, but I think the original promotional image showcased it from one of it's best angles, and my opinion changed accordingly the more I saw of it.

I think the first pic they released (with the shuttle approaching) was not very flattering. That was one thing...it just hit my eye wrong.
Other views made it look a bit better...and it did look great moving on screen.

The ship was seemingly designed to look its best from a side profile view, but when at an angle it can be a mixed bag. A VERY mixed bag. Some angles it actually looks terrific (I'm thinking of the grocery store standee of the Enterprise which looked great.) Then some it looked really bad, I.E. the first angle we saw. I think they just got a bit carried away with the secondary hull/pylons/nacelles is all.

Certainly, it's a huge improvement over the supremely ugly original original 1701 as seen in TOS itself.
Your blasphemy has earned you a full day in the agony booth. :klingon:

At this point in the thread, 15 accept it, 12 don't & 1 finds it, seemingly, too mixed to say.
