I seem to have fallen out of the loop when it comes to the DC animated films. About 6-8 months ago it was discussed here and elsewhere that DC had cancelled this series. I think I even read that Under the Red Hood was going to be the last release, and someone was bemoaning the cancellation of All-Star Superman.
Yet this week out of nowhere (well, for me - I did say I fell out of the loop) came Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (with Summer Glau as Supergirl - insert fist pump here!), and the disc includes a behind the scenes preview of, indeed, All-Star Superman (and with Christina Hendricks as Lois yet - insert another fist pump).
The new disc even included another one of those great Showcase shorts that people were saddened to see ending.
I know these animateds are made far in advance, so it's possible it's a case of Warner Premiere "burning off" its backlog. But still, I was convinced All-Star Superman was history. Has DC/WB reversed its decision? Or is ASS (er, maybe I won't use that acronym - All-Star Superman) going to be the swan song? I hope not, because given DC's apparent inability to get movies made (at least not to the same frequency as Marvel) I've found the animated films to be a great substitute (even if I felt some aspects of Apocalypse were a bit rushed).
