Hats in Star Trek XI?!? Is there no God?

I'm disturbed the third choice is running neck & neck with "No", that says alot about Star Trek fans... nothing great either.

Yes. that we have a keen sense of irony and clicked on it because it was funny.

Bad, bad, bad Trekkies. We need a spanking. Is the girl in your avatar available? We'll provide the paddle...

I'm not so sure how ironic some are around here. Sure I figured a few were kidding, but just looking at some of the comments I do not take that to be the default attitude most Trekkies possess regarding alterations to the thing they "love" or Trek XI specifically.

WHY are so many concerned about the look of the film?  They are NOT going to make it look like the 60's series. If anything it will look closer to ST: Enterprise. A show that I felt got its visuals right. Even when they did IAMD they made subtle changes to the Defiant interiors that made it look a little more texture. Im starting to think there is a group of fans out there that will except nothing less than a show or movie exactly modeled after TOS.
Why do a prequel otherwise?

For the story. Visuals should be the least concern. It doesnt have to match perfectly with TOS. Im not saying it shouldnt have some style connections to TOS. It just doesnt have to be exact. The fact that people are spazzing out over hats is a little extreme IMO.

I still want my spanking.

Spock looks good in a hat.

Maybe, but Kirk looks like he's been hitting the donuts. (I don't even recognize the episode - what's that from? Maybe when they remaster it they'll CGI 10 pounds off him ... :p )

Anyway, screw hats. It's whether the uniforms have pockets and zippers that'll get the fanbase into a real lather! ;)

Cheers!

Fedoras. The hat that will instantly make Abrams' film a classic. Any questions?

^ Well, they are certainly better than that Grandpa's Fishing Hat that Nimoy is wearing in that other pic!

I voted for it because it was funny, and I wanted to skew the poll; I would imagine quite a few others did too just to parody how ridiculous some Trek "fans" are.

I couldn't possibly give two sweet-flying frakks about whether or not hats will be in Star Trek. Anyone who does is simply beyond redemption. :vulcan:

What was it that Elaine Stritch sang? Oh, yes...

Lounging in their caftans
And planning a brunch
On their own behalf.
Off to the gym,
Then to a fitting,
Claiming they're fat.
And looking grim,
'Cause they've been sitting
Choosing a hat.
Does anyone still wear a hat?
I'll drink to that.

Lol, "Hats is Canon" is one of the funnier things I've read on this board in a long time, lol! Where is that idiot Matt now with his declarations of certitude?

Hats are slightly jarring from a visual standpoint-a bit like a Star Wars movie in which characters are wearing ties-but ultimately inconsequential. If hats are the most egregious thing they do wrong, then we're in for a treat.

Not that it's everyone's favourite show, but they *did* wear baseball caps on Enterprise.
