...BUT, i've come to understand recently WHY the characters HAD TO BE DIFFERENT.

indeed, why everything about nu-trek had to be "different"... but still it's a rip-off...

nu-trek is fake-looking for a reason: everything was done as CHEAPLY as possible... to MAXIMIZE PROFIT (to the extent that i think it is fraud / embezzlement) =(

think about it: u DON'T see the money on the screen, like you do in GOOD sci-fi ;-)

You seem desperate to sell the whole embezzlement story without any real proof. You think Paramount (or any movie studio) doesn't have people that audit productions every single step of the way. It comes across as petty and vindictive to drag people's name through the mud over a motherfucking movie you don't like.

Yep, thats why both were nominated for Visual Effects at the Oscars, oh and won the Oscar for best makeup in 2009...

Oh and thats also why Abrams is constantly praised for his integration of VFX work and practical sets...
