Hasbro's Power Rangers era and General Tokusatsu discussion

In Zero-One, I noticed Azu using a familiar phrase -- "singularity point," to mean the catalyst that triggered each Humagear's moment of singularity when they achieved sentience and emotional awakening. It took me a moment to place the term from Kamen Rider Den-O, where it (as the English translation of Tokuiten, "unique point") was the term for an individual who remained constant when the timeline was altered around them. Here, they used the phrase in English, though, so I'm not sure if it's a deliberate reference or a coincidence. (It's the Wiki's translation anyway; the subtitled Den-O episodes I saw called it "Singular Point.")

What previous Ranger, other than Tommy or Billy, do you think could have been the teacher to the new Rangers in DT?

Or, could it have worked in another way, maybe even better, if Tommy was the new teens' mentor but not also their teacher?

Tommy wasn't a bad choice to return in Dino Thunder in principle, but the problem is that they basically just copy-pasted him into a role that wasn't written for him and that he didn't fit (Edward Payne), and it really wouldn't have taken much effort to actually tailor the role to his established characterization since you could've kept 99% of the premise of the series intact but just changed the circumstances under which he came into the new Dino Thunder Rangers' lives.

Big spoiler for Beast Morphers.

Young Nate created Evox when he mixes snake DNA (WTH?) with RPM Red's morpher(which had bits of Venjix code in it)

^ Hmm.

I don't understand how an RPM Morpher got to the "prime dimension", but connecting the two seasons does make some degree of narrative sense given their similar premises

S.H figuarts Izu to be revealed next week at Tamashii Nations event

I wonder why they're hiding Izu's face when it will probably be not that different than the non poseable one

Tokushoutsu announcement for Kamen Rider Heisei Generations forever. Basically the Japanese trailer for the movie.

I'm sure new people will be scratching their heads at the references like The den-o references. Still it's pretty cool they'll have it subbed

Yeah, it's really not something that works well as a standalone. But as a promotion for Heisei KR in general, a way to give American audiences a glimpse at its history and breadth, I can see why they chose it.

Kamen Rider Saber's logo has been revealed

The tiny text on the sword blade says "Kamen Rider Saber" sideways. Also there seems to be some sort of book on the blade.

Interesting. A sword theme and a book theme? And I wonder what the stylized/sideways Roman-alphabet font represents -- presumably it'll be used in the story. Perhaps some alien or ancient mystical language that the book is written in?

The silver and black color scheme might be telling too, since KR logos over the past decade have usually reflected the color scheme of the title Rider's base form (though Build's didn't). Or maybe this is just a preliminary monochrome version.

Figuarts Izu is finally properly revealed! Well, minus accessories, that is.

Is it too much to ask for an Aruto next? It's not out of the realm of possibility. They recently revealed IXA with Otoya replacement head

Luckily (or unluckily), looks like Izu is gonna be a Web Exclusive which should mean she shouldn't sell out. Haha. 6600 yen, December 2020 release.

Zero-One episode 36

The show is finally back.

Fun fact. The hiden intelligence version of Siri is voiced by a sentai alumni Mao Ichimichi who has played Gokai Yellow in Gokaiger, Raptor 123 in Kyuuranger and Kishiryu Chibigaroo.

I like that we get callbacks to previous humagear with the Hakase bot. This show really likes to bring back humagear that were previously in past episodes

That fortune teller humagear was creepy IMO

Jin could have teamed up with someone better then Yaibi. I could see a mile away she stood no chance against the physical manifestation of Ark

I see a bit of Ex-Aid writing in the fact that now regular citizens can become low level Kamen Riders to protect against Raidriser threats

In Ex-Aid regular humans later on were given drivers to see who could be the best gamer

Yeah, I noticed that recurring theme of Rider-type tech being marketed to the public.

Aruto's idea of AIs not needing to be humanoid is an interesting development. I wonder if people would be more accepting of them in nonhumanoid forms -- would see them less as competition.

Kinda stinks that Horobi was possessed by Ark just after Aruto had a breakthrough with him. I guess we'll see a lot of Aruto and Jin trying to get Horobi back.

What the heck was it that Ark did to Fuwa on the bridge there, when it seemed to be possessing him the same way it did Horobi, but didn't stick around? Was it stealing his Rider data, pirating his abilities like Gai's weapon did?

Interesting fact I learned about Naki actor. The person who plays Naki is non-binary but Naki's gender or lack of is up for debate

Interesting. I guess that's easier to pull off in Japanese, where the pronouns are ungendered (though speech mannerisms tend to be, such as women tending to use more formal or polite forms where men use more informal ones). I think there have been a few ambiguous-gendered characters in KR/SS before, though generally creatures or robots rather than humanoids.

Kiramager 12: So we meet the Sixth Ranger, Takamichi/KirameiSilver, and he's a charismatic but self-absorbed gogglehead who's kind of a jerk. They seemed to be setting up a flirty sort of thing between him and Sayo, though more from his end. And there was a big surprise held off until the end about his true identity. That closing scene got really somber after the more playful stuff before it. (Like the Aruto-style pun he made when destroying the monster.)

I don't care for Takamichi's verbal tic of saying "Wonder" this and that in English. That could get annoying, though I guess I've gotten used to other such overused catchphrases in Sentai.

It's rare for an episode this far into the season to have so little mecha action, with only two of the Mashin being deployed and only for search and rescue purposes. I guess they didn't want to distract from the big introduction.
