Has the Spider-Man 1978 series ever been released on DVD?

Back in the late 70' while the Incredible Hulk was on the air there was a thirteen episode series of Spider Man starring Nicholas Hammond. The series, while not perfect, wasn't really given a chance to develop. From what I read the special effects cost was prohibitive. There were a lot of recycled shots of Spidey climbing the same building in each show.

It's too bad that this wasn't released along with the Spidey movies on DVD.:) I was hoping with the new film that we might see the 78' version some day.

According to Wikipedia, it has never been released on DVD. I saw a few episodes collected on VHS back in the early 90s, but my memory of them is a bit hazy and clouded by nostalgia.

I like the one where Spidey has to save a skyscraper ala "Die Hard". It had Joel McCraney (the actor from Simon and Simon) as the villian. He played lots of villians prior to Simon and Simon. He was one in the Incredible Hulk's second pilot.

His name is Gerald McRaney, and he did several Hulk episodes. These days he tends to play grizzled, curmudgeonly authority figures, like the CIA handler in Undercovers and a recurring judge in Fairly Legal. I for one think he would make a superb J. Jonah Jameson (certainly far better than the defanged, avuncular JJJ Robert F. Simon played in the '78 Spidey show).
