Sorry if I come off slightly insensitive, but... What the fck does Gene has to do with all of this? He's not even alive anymore... He's dead, Jim. So I doubt he's got an opinion on all of this. Unless someone claims to channel him? And even if he were alive, I doubt his opinion would hold much weight. He started Star Trek, but people tend to drift away from things after a while.
And someone's son is rarely his father, so his son's statements also don't speak for his father, rather, for himself.

Because too many Trekkies are tied to Roddenberry's rather flawed vision, and would rather know that their hate, or love, is justified if a member of the Roddenberry family (yes, even though opinions of family members can differ) believes the same about something that they do.
