Has anyone seen this? Flying NCC1701 D

Here are some more BoP-like designs, with the latter actually being named the Bird-of-Prey because of its resemblance to the Klingon ship:

But will they actually use that boat to fight pirates? And what armaments does it carry?

As for the last picture the X45 looks right out of the movie Stealth.... "EDI is the whole idea" to quote the drone

You know, this reminds me of years and years ago when a relative bought me this syrofoam Enterprise D ship that you threw like a paper plane and it was supposed to fly for a bit. They knew I was a Trek fan and they basically picked up from random thing from Trek that was available on the PX shelf, really no more thought than that.

What a terrible product. It was front heavy so even with a good wind it took a nose dive and crashed like Deanna was at the helm every time. And of course being styrofoam, it dented and got dirty easily.

It's just the company's proof of concept prototype at this point. The Navy hasn't purchased it. It might get picked up by another country, though.

The problem with us using it against pirates is that it doesn't look like it's much of a long term mission platform since it's so small, so it would need to remain tied to a home port in the region it's fighting in, which limits its utility.

The prob is that it's not aerodynamic at all. All the Enterprises are designed for a flight in space where there is no air drag. In an atmosphere they will inevitably get almost uncontrollable.
I'd say that the best model for flights in our atmosphere might be a Kingon Negh'Var Class or a simple Bird Of Prey. Both have sleek bodies and wide wings that are drawn downward, which makes them resemble birds gliding on the air.

Compare the lower specimen in this pic of flying geese with a bird of prey:

Great, now I'm gonna refer to the BoP as a space goose. Thanks. :p
