Has anyone here tried to redesigned ENT-D

The ones I saw back in the day were hand-drafted, and preserved more of the D's lines. (In fact, I think the artist used photocopies of blueprints, cut them up, and filled in the gaps. Like I said, it was a long time ago, and graphic software for home computers was pretty rare. But that's cool stuff.

Here's some I found on Deviantart

I actually saw a beautiful redesign back in the day (around the time of season 1) that, basically, widened the drive section so that the total width, including the nacelles, was equal to the width of the saucer. The artist also extended the length of the nacelles, but couldn't decide whether he liked them better that way. I did. He also redesigned the deflector dish to make it more, well, TMPish. It was a gorgeous design.

He also did a design that extended the nacelles, but otherwise kept the drive section as it was. However, he changed the geometry of the saucer to make it long and narrow rather than short and fat. It looked great, too.

Wish I had copies.

Do you remember where you saw it? Jeff Robb did a lot of nice work for GEC

I'm all for a complete redesign of The Dee, rather than, as mentioned above, the various 'adjustments' to what, IMHO, is a really homely ship; the Galaxy class is my least favorite Enterprise - yes, even behind NX-01!

I think my two biggest issues are the diminishing neck and the stubby, rear-mounted nacelles; the latter don't convey any sense of forward movement to me, and the former just reinforces the huge disparity in size between the saucer and, well, kinda, the lower saucer! ;) It looks like Mr. Mackey on South Park, with that huge inflated head and leetle tiny neck.

The Galaxy class refit (Third and last image of the three above) is the best Ent-D derived design. Nothing of the Sovereign class (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I like how they modified the bow of the secondary hull and had 'strakes' atop the saucer.
