How can you be a hater when you started the legendary Robau thread?
Its been about a year since I last saw the movie but I still love it! All the characters were great due in no small part to the efforts of the fine actors. I loved how Urban got McCoy dead on, Spock's struggle with his self identity (Quinto does a great job in this movie), and Pine's Kirk was energetic, fun, at very much a hero, even if he did need a kick in the butt to get going.
Pike was so awesome! I really love Greenwood's Pike as he provided the more mature, always calm under pressure leader that balanced Kirk's leap before you look style.
Also, I now love the prologue even more due to the glories of the Robau thread.

There was never a dull moment with all the action and I liked the energy imparted with all the crazy camera angles and shaky cam. I love that kind of stuff.
"Lens flare was annoying."
-It really didn't bother me.
"The engineering is a brewery."
-I don't care.
"It had plot holes and nonsensical BS."
-Every trek movie and episode has plot holes and BS. Again, I don't care.
"The ship's scales were all wrong! They were way too big!"
-Don't care.
"Its an alternate universe and negates all other Trek!"
-Yes, its an alternate universe, but this in no way affects the prime time line. Its still there. It is also a prequel
and a reboot, one which was sorely needed for the ailing franchise.
I also loved the looks of the ships in this film, especially the Kelvin and its cohorts at the space dock. The uniforms, as well, manage to keep the TOS look with just slight upgrades that make them even better. And the Kelvin uniforms really looked like a throwback to ENT and The Cage/WNMHGB. I also love how ENt is mentioned in this; It is cannon in two universes!
All in all, this was a great film with minor flaws that can be easily overlooked or explained away and it has made star trek fun and exciting again and accessible to all, including the non-fan.
I look forward to the next installment with this cast and crew.
Can't wait!
