Has any novel been written for the aftermath of "Mirror Mirror"?

I mean the immediate aftermath. Before the Klingons rose up.

I figure Kirk probably got just enough time to insult Marlena one last time before Spock vaporized him. Then he had Sulu killed, put Vulcans in key positions, had the Tantalus Device installed in the bridge main viewer, and contacted other trustworthy Vulcans before making his next moves.

The Sorrows of Empire by David Mack. A great, great book.

Yes -- which is part of a whole novelverse Mirror Universe continuity spanning the whole Trek timeline from the 22nd through the 24th century, also including the trade paperback collections Glass Empires, Obsidian Alliances, and Shards and Shadows and the novel Rise Like Lions, and crossing over with the DS9 novels Warpath, Fearful Symmetry, and The Soul Key.

There are also a couple of separate comics followups to "Mirror, Mirror" depicting alternate versions of events. In 1984-5, the DC Comics Star Trek series did an 8-issue "Mirror Universe Saga" picking up on the MU in the post-Search for Spock era (literally -- it was the first story they did set after that movie). And in 1997, Marvel did a one-shot called "Fragile Glass" which depicts the events immediately after "Mirror, Mirror."

The question was about an immediate novel follow-up to the episode. :p

It's been a while, but wasn't there a mirror mirror story line in the Shatner-verse novels too?

.

Dark Mirror by Diane Duane is a Mirror Universe novel that was written before DS9's MU universe storyline came into being; in it, the Terran Empire is still large and in charge, and thinking of invading a mirror galaxy because it's easy expansion. All of the Mirror, Mirror elements are there; senior officers having body guards, an agonizer booth, that sort of thing, but mirror-Counselor Troi is a holy terror because of her abilities. It's not set in the immediate aftermath, but it is much closer to "Mirror, Mirror" than the Crossover episodes.

Yes, in the novels Spectre, Dark Victory, and Preserver. That's one of several 24th-century Mirror Universe followups that I didn't mention because they weren't in the immediate aftermath of "Mirror, Mirror" and weren't in continuity with The Sorrows of Empire. Other takes on the 24th-century MU include TNG: Dark Mirror by Diane Duane (which predates DS9: "Crossover" and thus depicts an intact Terran Empire in the 24th century) and the duology Dark Passions by Susan Wright (based on the DS9 Alliance version of the MU).

Also in comics there's the 1995 story "Enemies and Allies," a backup story in issues 29-30 of Malibu's DS9 comic co-written by Tim Russ and featuring the Mirror Tuvok; and the 2008 IDW miniseries Mirror Images, which is mostly a prequel to "Mirror, Mirror" but includes an odd and rather pointless diversion to show Mirror Picard on the Stargazer, interpreting the fall of the Empire rather later than other sources do.

The novel Stargazer: Three features a character who comes from a version of the Mirror Universe, but it doesn't actually go there. And DS9: Millennium: War of the Prophets references events in an alternate future that involved a crossing to the MU, but it's a secondhand account.

And I think that's a comprehensive list. Not counting video games.
