I was thinking about going to see it at the IMAX this weekend; but now that they had a fire on the roof of that theater, maybe not. It was one of the heating/cooling units up there.

Apparently, the theater got smoke inside it, too. That's the one where I was always seeing Star Trek. Viewers got their Harry Potter interrupted and were given a showing in another theater.

Obviously caused by an orbital phaser shot by an orbiting Enterprise to deter HP viewers.

^ Yes, and it was on my order. I'm going to have to see to the Museum of Science and Industry's Omnimax, as well. I noticed last night that even they are playing Harry. Borgminister gets Star Trek at his omnimax. It's just not right that Harry is at ours.

Samuel Walters, that is a very enjoyable comparison; thanks for the link ("Franchise Reboot Battle"). We still did not win in the foreign box office, but we seem to be doing well otherwise. I'm sorry, but I want the world to be hooked on Star Trek, too. It's the only way I'll be watching new Trek at age 90; purely selfish motives.

It is nice to see we are still up there on the BOM ratings chart: #2, beating out these guys:

BTW, 130 in attendance (at least) at the IMAX for Star Trek yesterday... Transformers and Harry are waiting in the wings, but Trek apparently is doing so well it'll run there until the 29th.

Who cares if Harry Potter beats Star Trek? It's not like they're competing baseball teams or something. I don't need another franchise to fail to validate my affection for Trek. And I'm looking forward to seeing the new HARRY POTTER film.

Star Trek is a hit. Harry Potter is a hit. Genre films are doing well. Sounds like a win-win to me. What's to be depressed about?

The original poster is definitely not going to be happy with the news that HP6 set a new international 5-day opening record, earning $396 million dollars since Wednesday. Might need a suicide watch.

It should be the other way around...esp considering how DREDFUL the last two books are...

'Arry reaches a much larger cross section of humanity than Trek. Not to mention it rakes it in worldwide which is an area that I understand is lacking with Trek.
