It's hard to believe Nimoy agreed to do Trek '09. It must have been all those zeros and a last chance to ever see that many zeros in one place, except at a Star Trek convention that is, but I see him as a sell out, traitor. How do you see him? and the Trek universe now the check has been cashed and canon has been obliterated?

I always said not tying it into TOS was a big mistake. Avoiding it or side stepping it is one thing but they wiped the slate clean.

You do realize that Star Trek is a fictional universe, right? Fictional meaning not real.
I honestly can't sympathize with people who complain every time a part of their precious canon is decanonized. None of it's real. What matters is that you enjoy it. If you can still enjoy your TOS just as much as you used to, then I really don't see what the problem is. The old Star Trek isn't going anywhere. All Abrams has done is added to what was already there. If you don't like it what he's done with Trek, then you can simply ignore it.

Sticking with established continuity became impossible after Enterprise and Nemesis failed so miserably. Wiping the slate clean was the only viable way forward. If you want to get mad about that, get mad at the right people, the ones responsible for Enterprise and Nemesis being as terrible as they were.

Braga is an OK producers, but not that great. I think someone else has far better ideas so I think they should let them go where they want Trek to go.

Nimoy didn't do it for the money - he's financially set for the rest of his life and was officially retired from acting before the movie was even at the drawing stages!

From what I gather, Nimoy agreed to do the film because he wanted to reprise the role one more time and give the new cast (Quinto in particular) a boost by passing the torch.

It's been stated numerous times that Nimoy's only stipulation for joining the movie was that his character had to be written true to what was already established. He read the script, loved it and agreed to do the movie.

Hell, apparently he thought Karl Urban's McCoy impression was so good he cried tears when heard it.

Tears of JOY, to any incoming haters.

Being that I thought Star Trek XI was byfar the worst movie of the series, I have to say that I am surprised if Nimoy did this for anything but the cash.

Star Trek 2009 has to get in line behind Nemesis, Insurrection and The Final Frontier.

While it's not the best Trek movie, neither is it the worst. For this viewer, it's solidly middle-of-the-pack.

How do I see him? An icon. STXI was awesome, and I loved seeing Nimoy's Spock one last time.:techman:

If STXI's timeline reset has really ruined The Original Series and movies for you, you're watching it wrong.

Shatner is a jealous wanna be traitor sell out. That's some respect they showed canon - a slap in the face. I'm loving every minute of it that I'll never see though. Khan is up next. Knock yourselves out. What goes around comes around. It won't be long before he's through sadistically ruining the star Trek universe. You either play nice or you don't play at all. He can't touch Star Trek but it wasn't neccessary to crucify the thing was it? Pontious Pilot? Give us Barrabas.

You know, I don't know why I bother anymore to reply to your posts. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about when you resort to non-sequiturs.

He can't post in anything else, seriously, he hasn't posted a coherent post in years.
