I would like to take this opportunity to wish a very happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Trek BBS'ers. By the way, Trek does mention a few holidays in a couple of episodes...

In DS-9 episode "Blaze of Glory" Mr Eddington mentions a Thanksgiving Dinner that Capt Sisko had prepaired for the senior staff, he used to much terragon in the dressing.

In Voyager episode "Survival Instinct" Capt Janeway mentions that her ready room look like Christmas Morning after all the stuff that people had given her at the Space Station Voyager was docked at...

And don't forget TOS "Charlie X," where Charlie uses his super powers to make turkeys for Thanksgiving!

Also, in the background of the Borg battle in Star Trek: First Contact, if you look really hard, one of the ships attacking the cube is a turkey. No, I'm just kidding. But not about the first one.

TOS's Dagger Of The Mind makes reference to a Christmas Party, where Kirk meets Helen Noel (surely that name's just a coincidence?).

Apart from a bit of a gaffe regarding dates, it fits in with the Enterprise novel What Price Honour? where the crew have just celebrated Christmas and New Year aboard ship.

It's good to know that even though humanity seems to be more atheistic in the future, they still observe various days of celebration. And it looks like Thanksgiving is a more global event by that time, which is only a good thing. I mean... life would just be boring without holidays, wouldn't it?
