Happy Canada Day!

Mr. Laser Beam

In honor of Canada Day I hereby put forth the following giblets of wisdom:

- I wish there were Tim Hortonses (Hortoni?) in Omaha because they have like the best breakfast sandwiches and coffee ever.

- Aren't Canadians kind of tired of this "eh" shit by now? I spent a WEEK in Toronto this spring and never heard anyone talk like that.

Oh well. Happy Canada Day everyone. :techman:

I'm surprised they don't have any in Omaha, as they've been slowly expanding throughout the U.S, though maybe moreso in the northern states.

I like Tim Hortons. And Canada. And maple syrup.

Happy Canada Day, neighbors to the north!

I have become very fond of Canada these last couple of years. Not just because of my favorite TV show (Corner Gas) but I visited Toronto for the first time last year and it is already one of my favorite cities to vacation in. I think I'll go there every year just like I do in NYC. :techman:

I would also like to visit Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Anyone here done that? Can you tour the inside or just see the outside?

Yes sir, and yes, there are tours inside Parliament Hill. There are other sites to see as well. Feel free to PM me.

Happy Canada Day, neighbors! I'm curious... How is Canada Day usually celebrated?

Canada Day is spent very much in the same vein as the US 4th of July. If you imagine that, you have a pretty accurate picture. Some towns have parades, there are lots of outdoor activities, family get togethers, BBQs galore, outdoor concerts in the Capitol, and fireworks. We are, despite many comments to the contrary, very much alike.

Thanks for the well wishes.

A friend of mine is Canadian, and I watched an episode of a show "Jack of all Trades" which kind of satirized French-Canadians. Oh, and read an article about terms that Canadians use that Americans do not understand (I understood about half of them).

Also, this is one of my favorite songs (about Canada).

Happy Canada Day, Canadians. The USA could not hope for a better friend and neighbor. :bolian:

It's a day late, but Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! I spent the day with my wife and daughter at the beach.

Also, Chris Hadfield and his brother hope your day is going ok.

Unfortunately I just checked their website, they have no Hortonses anywhere in Nebraska. Although we do have Cold Stone Creamery, which is also mentioned on their site. Perhaps they're affiliated?

For awhile, they conducted an experiment where select Tim Hortons locations would also be home to Cold Stone Creamery in Canada. I think that it also applied vice versa in the States to help them get a boost in presence, but they recently ended their alliance. It was deemed a failure. I only know of one location (Near another dairy-bar/restaurant no less and no longer in business) where it was so popular due to roadside traffic that they decided to conduct a separate agreement when every other involved location pulled away.

The alliance might still be happening in the U.S on a per location basis.
