Happy Birthday, to the various people from the past.

I never liked Pumuckl much but I love der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig' Leben :) I once lent the DVD to a northern German collegue. His comment: "great film, but subtitles would have been helpful!" ROTF If only he knew that the movie is already in a very much defused sort of High Bavarian, created especially for the non-Bavarian audience :p Much like the Ohnsorg Theatre's "Platt", I guess.

Happy 276th Birthday to my fellow biologist Sir Joseph Banks! And best wishes to British author Eleanor Farjeon who imho rivals Roald Dahl when it comes to childrens' books. A pity her books are almost forgotten nowadays.

You’ll never unhear it, my dear friend.

I first heard this song while playing Fallout 3. I like it.

I don't know any famous people born today, but mine is in ten days (the 17th). I'll be 49. That's also the 49th anniversary of the day Apollo 13 made it back to Earth safely from when their air tanks exploded.

Funny story: My mom told me years later that the real reason 13's explosion happened was because my starship accidentally colided with theirs (I was apparently on my way here from the doomed planet Krypton). My mom claimed she adopted me when Nixon and NASA officials decided it wouldn't be a good idea if the public knew that a Superbaby lived among them. So they gave me to her, a relative nobody and told her to fake me having cerebral palsy so nobody would suspect that I'm secretly super powered.

Curiously, mom told me all this when I was eight years old and we were coming home from seeing Superman The Movie.
