Happy Birthday Jennifer Lien!

I'm guessing Exodus isn't a woman Antiquityscion. And I'm pretty sure he isn't post menapausal or he might be cutting us females some slack! :techman:
To be fair, I don't think Exodus is being intentionally mean or anything, I just think he hasn't thought about it that much. Maybe he will change his mind? I think we as fans sometimes forget stars are just people like everyone else, and life happens to them, too!

I don't know if this is the actress you're talking about but Rebecca Shaeffer was one of the deaths that forced stalking laws to be changed in California.

She was in a film with Robert Beltran not long before she was murdered. A terrible tragedy and it was good to see some serious changes made after that happened.
Yeah, that is the girl. I just got the show wrong. And I didn't know she was in a film with Robert Beltran....which I think kind of makes the case even stronger for Jennifer Lein not wanting to have a stalker in her life, as he very well could have mentioned it in conversation. I know that is speculation for sure, but very conceivable.

Personally, I find it pretty callous and shallow to be slamming Jennifer Lein over her appearance. Ever consider that maybe she has a medical condition causing her weight gain? Maybe it is depression? Maybe its just genetics
Great points; well made, antiquityscion. I met JL around 4/5 years back at London's ExCeL Centre - and she looked fantastic. I loved her work in VOY, and Kes remains my favourite character from that show.

Thanks Lokai :).

I have always thought Kes was under-rated. I would have much rather seen her continue on, even after 7 of 9 was brought on. I think it would have been totally appropriate to at least have her guest star at least once a season, making appearances after having "evolved" and offering advice or assistance to Voyager sort of like Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1 did, in SG1's Season 6. It would have even been great if Kes was revealed to be the new "Caretaker" and had a hand in helping Voyager get home somehow, in Endgame.

That would have been pretty cool. I'm a big Kes fan too. And I don't subscribe to the belief that it has to be one or the other -- Kes or Seven. They're both great characters as far as I'm concerned.

It's funny you should bring up Stargate SG-1; that's what I always find myself comparing the change to as well. I'm sure a lot of Seven-haters must wish Kes came back and replaced her.

You know, tangent but I liked both Daniel and Jonas too. Maybe I'm just hard to anger.

I'm with you on the 7o9 thing, Jeff. Initially, I dreaded her debut - convinced she was going to be pure T&A, but the writers actually produced a compelling, fully fleshed out and genuinely interesting character.

I'm sure if I were a bit older I'd have feared the same thing. Instead, being... let's see... somewhere around nine or ten when Seven debuted I thought it was really crazy stuff. You know, big, crazy stuff. Very impressionable age.

Then I looked back on it a couple of years later and realized that Ms. Lien had clearly either quit or been fired and it started to leave a bitter taste in my mouth, but by then the show was almost over and Seven's character had risen over the wardrobe she'd been provided with and become genuinely great.

Exodus is also understands the entertainment industry and is well aware as is EVERY star/celeb, that critique of them and their work goes hand in hand with what they do. Jen Lien is well aware of this EVERY TIME she makes a public appearance be it by the press or by the fan base.

So while you guys are jumping on my case, let's take time to reflect on all the nasty and often personal comments fans make every time there's a post about Robert Beltran or Garret Wang or all the "I HATE YOU" mail from adult fans received by Wil Wheton or comparing B&B to Nazi' just because their show didn't turn out how they wanted it too.
I think we've all exercised our right to critique star/celebs. one time or another. :bolian:

Well, Exodus, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I wouldn't exactly be proud of being prejudiced against people with weight issues. You are basically saying that people with weight issuess deserve scorn and ridicule. That is, in essence, how you are presenting your case.

Considering I am overweight myself(..and very close personal friends to the late Red Ranger who EVERYONE knows had an affinity for over weight women) you're assumptions are again incorrect. Being concerned for someones health due to them being over weight is a far cry from what you're talking about, especially since I've repeatedly said "...for the proper size and body frame." Saying that fat people deserve scorn and ridicule is you projecting your own ideas onto me.
