Hallie Todd (Lal) Appreciation Thread

The only note I thought came off as trite--even though it's admittedly still pretty amusing--was Data's accusational tone with Riker. It brought me out of it a little bit, since Lal's 1)nonbiological nature and 2)(presumed at the time) inability to feel love/pathological attachment would have rendered any experimentation completely harmless
At the same time, Data strives to be more human, so he simply responded in the way that humans typically respond in such a situation. I found it believable.

You guys are reading way too much into that part. It was just a funny one-liner. :p Funny not so much because of the line itself (which is a cliche), but the context of it coming from Data.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it amusing about Troi's comment "A friend for Worf" when Lal tries on being a Klingon. I think the Klingon's small stature doesn't help.

A major headache for Worf, more like.

Just imagine what would've happened if Lal had taken Troi's comment seriously, and begun, for instance, following Worf around in an attempt to "learn to be more Klingon"... I can't imagine Worf being anything but creeped out by it!

Iruka

Worf: For the love of Kahless! Counselor Troi has seized control of the Romulan Warbird!

Picard: Oh, sure. And I suppose Saudi Arabia won the Olympic Ice Hockey gold?

If Lal were serious about becoming a Klingon warrior, I think Worf would have been very happy to teach him. But if Lal just wanted to look like a Klingon warrior and not act like a Klingon warrior, then yeah, Worf would be pretty pissed.

Lal is endearing. The episode moves me to tears every time. Of the TNG family members she is the most charming. I think she woild have been a more interesting child to watch week to week than Wes or Alexander (although the Troi-Riker kids might of been interesting.)
